Ancient History Vol. 1
This book analyses and evaluates the socio-political and economic development of Ancient Egypt. The reader will find a variety of new historical information. It is an excellent book. This book examines and evaluates the evolution of Rome as a powerful Republic and later as a mighty empire. Rome created the Pax Romana, dominating most of Europe and parts of the Middle East. The Roman Republic refined Ancient Greek ideas, and some of these ideas later influenced and shaped Britain and the United States. Rome also adopted the Greek civilization and then created the Greco-Roman culture. Julius Ceasar expanded Roman power. He was an ingenious leader. The wars with Carthage were significant because Rome finalized the control of the Mediterranean Sea and Greece. The Punic Wars were a series of wars (between 264 and 146 BC) fought between the Roman Republic and Ancient Carthage. The navies of both powers played an important role during that time. Last, when Constantine became an emperor, the Roman Empire became Christian. Overall it is an excellent book. The Sumerians and Akkadians (including Assyrians and Babylonians) dominated Mesopotamia from the beginning of written history (c. 3100 BC) to the fall of Babylon in 539 BC when the Achaemenid Empire conquered it. It fell to Alexander the Great in 332 BC, and after his death, it became part of the Greek Seleucid Empire. Later the Arameans dominated significant parts of Mesopotamia (c. 900 BC – 270 AD).Around 150 BC, Mesopotamia was under the control of the Parthian Empire. It became a battleground between the Romans and Parthians, with western parts of the region coming under ephemeral Roman control. In 226 AD, the eastern regions of Mesopotamia fell to the Sassanid Persians. The division of the area between the Roman (Byzantine from 395 AD) and Sassanid Empires lasted until the 7th-century Muslim conquest of Persia by the Sasanian Empire and the Muslim conquest of the Levant by Byzantines. Several primarily neo-Assyrian and Christian native Mesopotamian states existed between the 1st century BC and 3rd century AD, including Adiabene, Osroene, and Hatra.Mesopotamia is the site of the earliest developments of the Neolithic Revolution from around 10,000 BC. Archaeologists identified as having "inspired some of the most important developments in human history, including the invention of the wheel, the planting of the first cereal crops, and the development of the cursive script, mathematics, astronomy, and agriculture."This book vividly traces the history of Ancient Mesopotamia.

A great book for newbies and for some oldies.
I can tell you that this series is well written and full of information. Enough information that you can be considered an expert on the ancient world, even though you’re not. Get this series and read them if you are at all interested in our modern culture. Why? Because our modern culture rose from the ashes of these cultures.

Great, but could be improved
I think that this is a great start, and I don’t have any complaints really. I would’ve liked to see Ancient Greece in here as well, to be more chronologically accurate (considering Greece and Persia had their heydays before Rome). Other than that this collection was excellent.
