This light will not work well even on light skinned people in normal office lighting. I kinda knew this from prior reviews going into the purchase. However, it is cheap and the right shape to hold tension on the vein. So I tried it out and found that if you turn off the lights in an office room and open the door to let indirect light in, it works like a charm. You can see the veins clearly from the weaker illumination this model gives off and also see your butterfly needle and blood draw vials. Add on to this that this model is much cheaper than the higher lumen models and its a tool that works that I also wouldn't mind if it gets lost. So overall, a solid purchase and good value for the money.

Bought this for my neighbor who goes for chemo and blood work and techs have difficulty finding veins. You have to use it in the dark and be very close to the veins. I didn’t find any merit to its use.

The open end allows you to do a needle insertion if you are having a hard time finding the vein or artery. Just hold the light over the spot and insert through the open end.

Visability. Some veins and areas are better to visualize than others. I find that it isn’t always the best tool but it has helped me find at times.
