Who put dudes in my DOA?!?!
I’m not going to lie, I picked this game up because it was dirt cheap and looked mildly amusing. I play a lot of fighting games and did like DOA2 when it originally came out. But it seemed shallow and simple so I saw no reason to really spend much time with it.This game though…well this game kicks butt, major butt. For the original Xbox, the game is simply gorgeous. The girls look amazing and the environments look even better. A wide array of outfits to unlock, like over 20 per character. Ranging from long dresses to bikinis. The environments are multi-level and highly interactive. Nothing is more fun that kicking a friend off a mountaintop and watch them tumble all the way down. Glass breaks, things explode. All sorts of crazy action. And it’s strategic too, as these thing do extra damage.Gameplay is best described as super fast. All sorts of things have been added since DOA2. I would list them, but in all honestly I really don't remember what is new and what isn’t. But what is there now is just a blast. Matches blow by so fast. Blink and you die. I found it very challenging to keep up with the pace and still maintain a winning strategy. The fast is better than the strong more often than not. Just a ton of throws, hits, and parries to work with.I would advise you to not even open the manual for a while. Just experiment with what you need to do to survive. Then build your tactics around that. I don’t claim to be a real badass yet, but I am having a blast learning. It’s actually a pretty deep in it’s own way.So yes, Xbox Live died a long time ago, but this game is a blast in single player. The AI is amazing, provided me with a excellent level of challenge. And you unlock outfits as you play the AI on different difficulties, so it’s a must. And you can always still scare up a friend to fight in the real world. Help them out a little and they will kick your butt in no time. Very easy to pick up and play.Bottom line: This game is all about fun. And girls. Leave your fighting game snobbery at the door and you will have a blast. Or better yet, take it with you. You may be surprised how deep it can get.The goodEasily one of the best looking games on the XboxFast and fun gameplayGorgeous multi-level environmentsTons of outfits to unlockPretty girlsGreat AIThe badNo online nothing since Xbox Live diedRather loud in the DVD driveWho put dudes in my DOA game!?!?You will barely play DOA1The DOA2 story makes little senseOh yeah, forgot to mention all you get in the package deal. Real nice packaging, manuals for DOA1 and 2. Did I forget to mention DOA1? Yup, and you will most likely play it as much as you play the male characters in DOA2. 99% of your time will be spent with DOA2 Ultimate girly girls. But I guess more is better. And DOA1 is pretty cool in a retro kind of way.Oh and DOA2 made a lot of noise when I played it in the DVD drive. I don’t know why. I think it’s has something to do with my system, but I have no idea. I have a modified Xbox and copied it to the hard drive and it plays like a dream. But just thought I should mention it.Update: Went back and played DOA1 and was rather shocked how much fun it was. You can unlock many costumes like DOA2, and I may even like the gameplay a little better. So this was a really good purchase for me.

An Amazing Fighting Game
The Dead or Alive series has been my favorite fighting game for over a decade. This game is a compilation of previous games from the Dead or Alive Series. What I feel makes this series unique is that it, in my opinion, tends to be less "cheap" than many other fighting games. Yes, some characters do have special, sometimes annoying, moves. Characters do not shoot lightning or throw fireballs which I appreciate as I feel it makes the game less cheap as it is focused on fighting moves and not magicians tricks. Something in this game that sets it apart from other fighting games is the fact that characters can do reversals, or counter attacks, which are a much better technique than the typical blocking. When timed correctly, you can reverse another characters punch, kick, etc. aimed at you and harm them instead. I like the variety of characters and how the different fighting styles that they each possess. If you are a Dead or Alive fan I definitely recommend the purchase of this game. However, if you are new to the series and own I 360, I would recommend the purchase of Dead or Alive 4 over this game as it is a newer edition and has better graphics.

Still great!
When I bought this a year ago on Amazon, I did not expect to get an unopened copy for $10.00, but that's what I got. Lucky me, but now there is one less sealed copy in the world.DoA is my fighting series. Everyone has their favorite, be it Tekken, Killer Instinct, Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, etc. This one appeals to me. Boob physics aside, the characters are interesting, and all have their strengths and weaknesses. In story mode, the game is tough but never feels like its cheated you out of a win. Just get better and you will win.Coming out after Dead or Alive 3 and Extreme Beach Volleyball, DoA 2 is enhanced over its initial Dreamcast version and Playstation 2 port. Looking superior to DoA 3 and very close to the quality of DoA 4 on Xbox 360. Dead or Alive 1 is presented (mostly) its original format. More or less included in the pack as a bonus disk. With DoA 5 the series lost it's charm, as well as its creator and most of the Team Ninja staff. It focuses on microtransactions, buy costumes and characters... If you wanted to own the full DoA 5 game it would cost you well over $1200.00! No joke!Back in the day (not that long ago!!!) we had complete games and the DLC costume packs were free, or really cheap, or totally unnecessary. Nowdays you can buy better move combos, better fighters, and sexier costumes. Mostly though, it's sad that you can pay to win. Tell you what, give me five bucks and I'll let you beat me on DoA 1,2,3, or 4. It's only right that you pay your opponent to let you win than those guys at Tecmo.

DOAU
Dead or Alive Ultimate is the first and second Dead or Alive remade for the Xbox. While the first one hasn't improved to much, the second is looking better than ever. I bought it thinking the first would be on par with the second but it's still the same game without a lot of the flash that the series has developed. The second is really worth the purchase of both; it's just so good I would compare it with Dead or Alive 4 on the Xbox 360. It's that good. I gave this a four star simply because I felt the first Dead or Alive was underwhelming and wished they would've spruced it up a little. However, the second is so good it really should be like a 4 and a half or something.

Excellent
It was really cool buying it new and seeing the cover advertising the launch of Xbox live on 2004. Overall, great games with Doa2U being phenomenal (only complaint is Hayate wasn’t a playable character). Good story and presentation, and probably my second favorite Doa after 3.

Does not work
This DOES NOT work on Xbox one systems. Gives me a message stating it is NOT backward compatible.
