Decent low budget radios
BaoFeng UV-82 HPThese are, for the price, excellent radios. I like Baofengs because, as far as 'on the air' RX/TX, it is hard to tell the difference between a Yaesu, Kenwood, or Baofeng. I own all three types. Actual quality of use is mostly a "You get what you pay for" type deal. I will say that I always have a Baofeng stored in each of my vehicles. I cannot afford to dedicate a $300+ radio to each vehicle. I am not a big enough of a HAM geek to grab a radio each time I leave the house, so the stored radios are often handy. If one breaks or gets stolen, not a big deal. These have three power levels that can be programmed into the channel settings. There is also a hot key "#" that will toggle the power level on the fly. The ones I got will transmit from about 130-179 Mhz/ 400-520 Mhz when programmed via software. I recommend the free and open source CHIRP software. These are not FCC ‘legal’ for transmitting anywhere but on Ham bands with a Ham license. The UV-82 will TX/RX on MURS and FRS/GMRS (as well as other) frequencies. This radio will also make a decent public service band scanner, just be sure to program “Duplex=off” and “VFO/MR mode=Channel” in software to disable any inadvertent transmissions. As with any powerful tool, use with caution. :)

Not fcc compliant! But nice little radios.
As far as I can tell, these are "illegal" in the eyes of the fcc. You can direct dial into any frequency in their bandwidth, which is no good. They can operate in restricted and HAM frequencies, which unless you have a license isn't allowed either. I completely reprogrammed to only opetate on gmrs frequencies, and have a gmrs license to operate so I'm operating them legally, but the equipment itself is not fcc compliant. That said, they're nice little radios. They also require you to install software directly from China to program easily, so I programmed manually which is a bit painful.

Great radio for a great price.
Good value. Longer anrennas included. Programming cable is included and works with CHIRP. Was easy to program once you figure out what the options mean. Every thing works as expected.

FAST SHIPPING GREAT SELLER!!!!!
Sound is great our building is 140,000 sq. foot and it carries through the whole building. Dislike screws come loose easy on volume antenna and clips so i always add a little loctite.

Great value easy to program with chirp
Sound quality is as good as other brands I own.Battery life is excellent.Download chirp or purchase the RT programing software.Label each radio so you can keep them separate as each requires its own unique program channel assignments can be identical but the program must originate from each individual radio.I use number one as the master and copy and paste to the others when I make a change.

Good Buy!
The radios are good. They aren’t 8 watts. The longer antennas are surprisingly good. I bought 3 sets of these. I sold them to my friends. All of them are happy with them.

Don't buy, new firmware severely limits frequencies available.
I can't program any of the frequencies I used on the older radios on these new radios. The new firmware has removed most of the frequencies. And you won't find out till you get it and read the manual
