This will work great for a person with hearing loss in one ear.This is my solution using a Dell Inspiron laptop and Sony MDR-ZX110 headphones. It ain't pretty, but it works See attached photos:1. Plug a STEREO TO MONO adapter into your source (computer or whatever).2. Next plug this MONO TO STEREO adapter into a STEREO TO MONO adapter.3. Next plug your headphones into the mono to stereo adapter. Now mono sound will be routed to the left and right headphone channels.***** NOTE ON SIZESome reviewers were concerned about the adapter being too bulky for their use. Work for Union Pacific as a railroad conductor. I use earbuds to plug into my two way radio so I can protect my hearing but still hear what is being said on my radio.Unfortunately, the boom mic I have is wired for mono only instead of stereo. Makes it so that I can only hear out of one side of the earbud. So I purchased this mono to stereo converter so that I can hear on both sides. Works great for this purpose.Clicks onto the earbud jack very well. But kinda loose when connecting to the boom mic. Will have to buy a few more as backup in case I loose this one..

Working great. Got this with a stereo headphone to hook up to my pocket talker pro. The old mono headphone that came with it broke and I need to replace. Check price for mono headphone was like $30. Got this mono plug and stereo headphone for under $15. A note, this will not work well with a stereo headset that has a mic. So make sure you are using only stereo headphone with this mono plug.

Purchased this to use stereo headsets with my Yaesu 2 way mobile radio. I had a couple of issues.1. The body of the plug is to big to fit into the recess around the radio jack. Solved by carving the plastic body down with a dremel tool.2. I tried using a headset that had a microphone as well as speakers (for cell phone use). Got a lot of static on the headset. My guess is that the contacts inside the connector were hitting the microphone "ring" on the headset jack .vs. the speaker ring. Works OK on a headset without the microphoneOnce I carved the plastic down it worked well with a regular stereo headset.
