So I got this specifically to keep my gun in my car in a safe but easy to get to location for longer trips. I initially thought I could use double sided gorilla tape. However, you should not expect to use it that way. The reality is that my Jeep's dashboard and interior does not really have a good flat surface to tape this to. It would not adhere well enough without the risk of falling off. So yes I had to drill into the plastic to screw it in. The good thing is that it was an easy process and the gun holder is nice and sturdy now. I would suggest using a very thin drill bit, one that is quite smaller than the actual screw. You just need a small opening for the screw tip. Then the screw will hold on tight to the plastic.It is actually a great product. One installed, the holder will hold your gun with a strong magnet that will not move from its position.

Many mixed comments out there but I think you have to adjust your expectations anytime you are buying a one size fits all product. I have a basic weapons locker with removable indoor panel. After figuring out general placement, I removed panel, checked for any interference with internal mechanisms, then attached mounts using the adhesive provided. it was strong enough to hold in place while I drilled through the door. I attached using #8-32 3/4' screws with a washer and locking washer. I reattached panel to door and tested the mounts. I was concerned about the magnet being too strong, especially on my my Sig P320, which was hard to pull out. I felt my Canik TP9 set too low and did not attach well enough. I tried three different approaches (pictured). The thick felt strips were too thick and could be used. But they were perfect to place in the bottom of the mount to raise the Canik and then it grabbed the magnet perfectly. I layered two strips. I used one for the Sig P320 in same location. The foam insert still did not let the Sig Grab. But three of the plastic dots (larger) from the variety package were perfect. I had no issues with mag release others described but modifying the holder will be easy enough if I encounter in future. I may move the lower mount down as I think the magnet is interfering with the circuit board controlling the entry codes. But that is my issue not the manufacturer. Solid product, highly recommend

I really like this holder. Will probably buy again for another vehicle. It fits my Glock model 45 and Glock 36 great. I gave it a 4 out of 5 stars because of one draw back that I feel needs to be addressed. I mounted mine on the right side of the steering wheel down on the console in a 15 GMC Sierra. Where I mounted it was great for conceal while I am not in the vehicle and great ease of. reach when going for it quick. Now the draw back to this is the mount needs a spacer between it and the console because my hands are to big to grab the handle. I found a piece of rubber bout 1/4" and used it as a spacer and it works great. This spacer is not needed if handle of pistol is not next to anything when in holder. I found in the Sierra this was not doable do to concealment and ease of use.Like I said earlier though great holder will be buying again just something I learned when using and deducted one star for it.

I have used several magnetic type mounts for these types of applications. All of them say they are super strong but only a handful are really worth it. These definatly are.The item comes with 2 hooks. There are 2 very strong magnets in each bracket. the brackets are well designed because they swing out a little. This is very important to make sure your items mount as flush as possible but also still can be retrieved easily.I used these on a Remington 870. Could have actually done everything with just 1 hook but since it came with 2 went ahead and used both. Anything smaller than this should be more than fine with just 1. The magnets were actually so strong that I had to put in some fabric to give the magnets a little distance between them and the frame. This was so it was a little easier to be able to retrieve the magnets are very strong.The do come with a 3m adhesive pad on the back. This adhesive strip is not strong enough to hold any real weight. They are very nice to help you get positioned and then hold the bracket while you actually screw it in. So nice to have for mounting but be sure you actually screw it in. It does come with both mounting screws and drywall anchors if needed.Would purchase again!

I've used magnetic holders but it's great that this one covers the trigger guard.I run a Glock 19 with a TLR-7A. The light turns on when I pull the gun out of the holder. I don't know if this is by design or just a fluke, but I highly reccomend this product.

I love the idea of this handgun mount. I believe any loaded handgun should have some sort of trigger covering, so this idea is perfect for some added safety to a magnetic mount. However, it has some drawbacks that need to be addressed. For one, when mounting to something, there needs to be more space between the back of the mount and the mounting surface. As is, there is not enough space to fit your hand in to grip the firearm to remove it. Secondly, the magnet is extremely strong. This is a great thing for full sized handguns, which it will have no problem keeping secure. However, for a subcompact carry firearm, the magnet is way too strong and it is very difficult to remove the firearm from the mount. Overall, I personally wanted to mount this in my vehicle to have fast and secure access to my carry firearm while driving. Although I love the idea of this product, it unfortunately just does not suit the application I wished to use it for and I am returning it. I’m sure if using with full sized handguns it could be modified with spacers and work very well, just not for me.
