Sony MDR-RF855 100m Overhead Home Wireless Headphones - Black

I bought these to replace my old Sony TMR - RF850R which I bought from Amazon in 2006. The new ones are much better in most respects. The old ones had an awkward way of putting the earphones back on the cradle, a sort of rocking motion to engage the connector. This was made worse when I upgraded the ear cushons with a thicker pair, I then found that the earphones were being pushed away from the connector, as such I could connect the side with the connector but could NOT then rest the other side on the cradle.These new ones have a much better connector and there is plenty of space between the ear cushon and cradle, so upgrading to a new (thicker) set of ear cushons won't be a problem.Aditionally, channel selection to pair the earphones to the cradle is a doddle, there are just three "click" choices, no turning a dial of the headphones to pair them (I'd often move the dial just a fraction of an inch by mistake and get fuzzy sound, or no sound at all from the headphones).The sound is very good for me and plenty loud enough, certainly more volume than my previous ones.I'm NOT convinced that the new headphone band is as tight as my previous one but that might be down to the fact that I'd bought newer and thicker earpads.All in all, a happy teddy.

Sound quality for watching TV and films is very much above average. Don't expect the audiophiles to be jumping with excitement for them but for making the viewing experience that much better these are great.Minimal hiss when there's nothing coming from the TV and no issues at all when there is.Nothing to complain about. Great bit of kit

Plus points:Well made, good range around the house, excellent storage and charging with the cradle - very convenient and always ready.Minus points:Some sound distortion as distance increases, short cable from the cradle to headphone socket of device being used, loose vertical fit.To explain the last two points.We wanted to use this for the TV and the Hi-Fi but could not find a suitable place to locate the cradle (which needs mains power) where the cable would reach both items even though they are within 2 m of each other. We overcame this by buying a headphone extension lead. (You might also want a mini to 3.5 mm convertor if using with Hi-Fi.)The top band is structural and the lower of the two bands sits on the top of the head. The lower band has elasticated ends which are quite loose. Consequently if you have a smallish head, the headphones seem to sink down lower than expected.Overall we are pleased with these and have used them to listed to our Hi-Fi while in the kitchen or in bed but mostly they are used to listen to the TV while ironing as there are no leads to tangle.They are still comfortable after 2 hours use. I would certainly recommend these for their convenience alone.

Unfortunately these have a very strong hiss no matter what settings I choose. Well, eventually I was able to get rid of the hiss but the sound volume was so low that I couldn't hear a word!Even bigger disappointment was the seller 'magicdiscounts' who refused to refund, justifying their decision with words 'all wireless headphones of this type have some hiss, it's not a fault'.Well thank you very much magicdiscounts! Now I got a piece of headphones which I can't use for absolutely anything!Also - I got quite a big head, but these headphones are just huge! You can't set the headband to a fixed size, it's all just wobbling and sort of shaking on your head. Very uncomfortable.This was my worst buy in years. Product useless. Seller even worse.Avoid!

Got as a replacement for my 20 year old Sony wireless headphones.What an amazing upgrade no interference, no white noise, no retuning, once on a setting that's it. Able to change setting for other tv as it has 3 settings. Very comfortable to wear and can go from room to room without any problems.As I said brilliantThank you Sony

I know these headphones are excellent and having broken my pair that I've had for at least 6 years I looked to replace them. No problem with the delivery time but I had to send both pairs back that I purchased. it was impossible to remove the battery cover on both. We tried everything we could think of and the cover would not budge. I know the cover should come off really easily as we have another pair belonging to my husband and the cover screws off with consummate ease. I await pair no 3 and hope I can remove the battery cover!

What a game changer when my wife isenjoying the soaps and I am trying to get some sleep.we are both happy with this excellent product from Sony.

Present for husband. The sound quality is great+ very comfortable to wear. He loves the fact that he can go upstairs or walk around without missing a minute of his program. He's very happy with them
