I've used heavy body acrylics in the past, and this was my first time trying soft body so I opted for a set. They are nicely pigmented while still being somewhat translucent (as is normal for acrylic paint, sheerness varies with the individual color). I haven't done a direct comparison, but they do seem to be a bit easier and more even than heavy body when applying in a diluted "glazing" kind of way.As others have mentioned, there is not a lot of paint per color, but it's a reasonable intro set if you're just trying the brand/soft body, and pretty standard price point for a set of 12 (assuming you want decent quality paint).My main disappointment is with the bottle design. They're not bad to hold, but it's easy to accidentally unscrew a little when popping the top off, and if it happens enough, paint will come out from the side/between the cap and body and make a mess when you squeeze. It's not SO easy to do that it will happen all the time—but it is easy enough that you'll want to be careful.Secondly, even if you put the cap back on immediately every time, the inside of the cap doesn't have the little nub that typically inserts into the nozzle, so it's easy for the nozzle to get plugged up with dried paint that you need to clean out next time. Neither of these issues are dealbreakers, but seem like big oversights and do make it less pleasant to use.

I purchased this set for several projects coming up. Good quality paint. The size of the bottles is small which is okay to experiment with but the bottles are not full. After determining the colors you prefer, it would be more cost effective to purchase a larger size especially for large projects. The texture is opaque, satin, very smooth. I wanted to try something between fluid paint and hard body paint. Liquitex makes great gesso and interesting mediums to use with their paints as well as acrylic ink. My usual art store is out of stock so I purchased this set on Amazon. Recommended for abstract art that requires a flat, hard edge or other styles as well.

This is a beautiful paint, however I bought it for my mom to use and the bottles are hard to squeeze. Great product if you don't have arthritis.

I love the consistency of the soft bodied paints from Liquitex. They are heavily pigmented and can be easily mixed with various pouring mediums. The mixtures will keep in sealed bottles for weeks without separating. However I’m giving this set only 4 stars because of the “Rose” color. This color looks more like faded bricks- more reddish brown than anything I would call rose or pink. It does not work well with the other jewel tone colors of the set. The blue and green are beautiful though!

For the people leaving bad reviews, I don't think they understand the quality of good paint and the prices. This paint I find comparable to Golden Fluids which can average about $9-12 a 2oz bottle. This Liquitex paint is high in pigment, not "Basic" and .74 oz times 12 bottles in different colors. I love these and this size is great for paper and small canvas. I think the people who are leaving 1 star reviews have no idea what they are talking about and have no concept of how much good acrylics run. To think they were going to get an 8oz bottle of each of the 12 colors is absolutely absurd and hysterical. Love the quality of these paints and love the price!

Rich color and easy to blend and mix right from the tubes. I look forward to using these more.

Pricey but very nice paints perfect for drybrushing, one of the paints came through a bit dried and the company sent me through a big one so that was very nice and pleasant to deal with them

Good consistent paints, but need careful application as too much can come out in one go.
