After seven years it still does what it is suppose to do.
Updated Sept 22, 2021Still amazed everyday, that this winder is still quiet, works perfectly, and is so far removed from the negative reviews, when I first purchased it. But for the money, I thought I would give it a try and if it last a few years, I would just buy another one. Coming up on eight years of continuous service, ( Runs every day ). Its still quiet, when running, and very reliable. highly recommend.Updated June 20 2021I am amazed at how great my Original Vera winder has performed. It still runs everyday. is still quiet, and could not be more pleased, considering all of the bad reviews when I originally purchased this winder back in 2014. I still believe the method I use to run this winder is the key to its longevity. I never turn the winder off. it is always set to on and to do the three range of motion cycles. I do have it on an external timer that is set to run for two hours a day. My Rolex is always ready to go, and fully wound. I hope this helps someone with their choice of an inexpensive winder.Updated October 26 2020Still working perfectly, no excess noise.. runs every day for 2 hours as recommended by Rolex. I have it on a timer, which I think helps with the longevity. I dont have to turn it on and off. it's set to on and runs the three motion option and the timer turns on and off when its completed its cycle.Update Jan 2019... bought this Jan 3 2014. It runs everyday for the last five years... it runs for 2 hours overnight. Right by my bed.. no issues and no noise...works as expected.. no problems...I purposely waited almost a year and a half to review this item. I bought it because I did not want to spend 100 or 500 dollars on what was suppose to be a premium winder. I figured if this one lasted a year, I could buy a lot of winders, for a couple hundred dollars. I read the reviews and many people said this one lasted about a year, made a lot of noise, and finally died.Ive had this winder for almost 2 years, it runs every day, and it runs in my bedroom . Its still quiet after 22 months of daily operation. One thing I did do was to put this winder on an external timer. I then set the winder to run all the time. So no turning it off and on manually... BY do9i8ng this I took the internal clock mechanism out of the total run time aspect. My Rolex only needs 1 and 1/2 hours of Omni directional ending daily.... If I am not actually wearing the watch. The external timer come on at 1:00 am and runs until 2:30 am. Ive never had to manually wind my Rolex in almost two years, Ive not had to open and close the crowne or put undue pressure on the crown lock. This winderin a total winner. I think putting it on an external timer, increased its life expectancy dramatically. after 22 months, its still very quiet. and obviously with no power going to it, nothing wears out or gets hot.. ..Update Nov/18/2016 After almost three years of ownership ( 34 months ) This winder works exactly as it did 34 months ago. It runs every day without issue. I cant see the need for a 200 or 300 dollar winder.... when I bought this winder, I said for this price, if it lasted a year, I will be happy, Obviously it has far exceeded my expectations. If it died tomorrow, I would buy another, immediately. this winder runs at night next to my bed and it never bothers me...it makes a slight motor noise but nothing that would prevent me or my wife from sleeping. Motor noise has not changed one bit in 34 months.I hope this helps people with their choice.. I have no affiliation with this product. I only posted this as a means to help others with the issue of buying a very inexpensive winder doing a good job... .

UPDATED: Not sure it's the right one for the watch I have...
Skip down for Update:Check back for an update here in a few days if you like... I purchased this for a new watch I have (my first automatic) which is a TechnoMarine Royal Marine P1. It fits nice and snug in the winder with little room to spare but the cover closes without any contact to the watch.First Impression of winder: Seems pretty decent for $40. Sounds coming from the winder vary...but are not at all loud... just a softer, semi-muffled mechanical sound. It seems a bit louder in the clockwise direction than in the counterclockwise direction. The green power light actually puts out a good bit of light in the bedroom. I have it next to my watch case on my nightstand... I may put some tape over the light if I keep the winder. So here is what I'm looking at. My watch has no battery like some other watches. I'm no watch expert but sort of assumed that the automatic was the charging process, not the full movement of the watch (This may be common sense to some of you watch collectors out there but like I said, this is my first automatic). With that said, I have the winder on the "D" setting which is 10 minutes clockwise and then 10 minutes counterclockwise for 3 hours with a 9 hour rest after that. Then the cycle repeats again. (NOTE: this may be the incorrect setting - I will try the "C" setting next which is the rotate 20 rest 10 min cycle (clockwise, then counterclockwise).Anyway, got the winder 2 days ago, wound up my watch and put it on the winder in the D setting as mentioned. The watch stopped this morning at 3:50 am. It had gone through 3 rotating cycles and was without motion for almost 7 hours before it stopped.Assessment:1. Watch may be too heavy for this winder?2. Different cycle should be used for this particular watch?3. There may be something wrong with the watch (I believe this is not the case but it is a possibility).I sent TechnoMarine an email this morning to see what they say... will update once I figure out what's going on.Hope this helps...UPDATE on 8/23/13:I spoke with the watch maker (TechnoMarine) and they said that any auto winder would word well. So this focuses me at evaluating the watch itself to see if something is wrong with it rather than looking at the winder as the issue. So, with that being said...Winder Final Eval: For $40 you can't go wrong. I haven't tried any other winders but this one seems to do what it says it'll do and is rather quiet. There is just a low, mechanical murmur of sorts as it is winding. I'm a light sleeper but to me it's not even enough to bother me. The only thing I'd do it cover the green light so it doesn't disturb your sleep. Otherwise, unless something changes in how it works, I'd recommend this and I'd buy it again. Only other thought is that if you're thinking of getting more auto watches, it's really not that much more to get a double watch winder.

Works great and great value
I have had this winder for nearly a month. So far it has worked great; I use the 650 TPD setting together with the bi-directional mode. This keeps my good watch perfectly wound but not overwound! It is quiet and small. This winder is very functional and looks fine for the purpose it is designed for. That said, it is not a "display" winder for beautiful watches. Those cost many times more and are probably no better functionally. In my research I found as many of the high end winder reviews complaining of breakdowns after a year or so as for this one. Well, if this winder dies after a few years I won't mind replacing it since the cost is so reasonable!

Works but plastic cover has inadequate clearance
Mostly plastic and inexpensive but does the job. The rotation rate is slower than what I've seen with other winders. 4 modes of operation with fixed rotation counts and CW/CCW options. My main gripe about unit is the plastic cover. When closed, its too close the the watch face so what ended up happening is I have these circular scratches on the cover from where my watchface was scraping the inside of the cover. The watch itself is not overly large and fits well around the 'pillow' and in the cavity where the watch should sit. I don't like having to jam the watch in there just to keep the cover from scratching so I leave the cover open.
