Good unit at a good price.
Samlex is a fairly old and respected name in power electronics. I was surprised and pleased to see this for sale on Amazon, and at a very good price. It's still new, but I'm expecting good performance from this inverter.

Works Fine
I use it to power a Laptop and printer on a mobile cart. I have the cart set up with batteries that are connected to the inverter. Inverter does the job of powering my equiptment

Great Inverter
This inverter handles the startup surge of my fridge like a 1000watt, quite a good quality device.

fuses pain to get to
says it has polarity protection, which it does but the fuses are all internal and are soldered into the board , so if you hook it up wrong they all blow and the only way to fix it is to take it apart unsolder all the joints then pull the fuses then resoldered new ones in, other than that the construction looks to be solid . external fuse mounts would have been great

didn't do what I needed it to
I bought this inverter to run AC power off the DC batteries in our travel trailer (TT) while camping off grid. My plan was to just plug the TT's shore power cable into this inverter (TT's onboard AC-to-DC converter turned off) and then all the interior AC outlets would be live. Well the inverter would shut down and the fault light would come on as soon as I plugged the shore power cable into it. Did some troubleshooting and research and found in the manual it says to not plug it into an AC distribution panel or it faults. This is basically exactly what I was trying to do with it, bummer. I confirmed that using an inverter in this manner does work fine with a borrowed smaller modified sine wave (MSW) inverter and it had no issues. So I thought I could at least use this Samlex to provide AC power to the LCD TV, but the TV must hate the modified sine wave power because it makes a terrible buzzing sound. Totally unacceptable and I think it would have killed the TV eventually if I had continued to use it. I now use a small pure sine wave (PSW) inverter to plug the TT shore power cord into and it works great. All the AC outlets are live. No faults and no buzz from the TV, either. So this inverter now sits in the truck tool box in case of emergency. I don't think I can give this Samlex MSW inverter a bad review since I was trying to use it in a manner that it says not to. Plus the whole MSW/PSW thing is a risk you take if you want to try using a less expensive inverter to meet your needs. So I've settled on 3 stars because I'm sure it does what it is designed to do, it just didn't do what I needed it to do.

Decent little high power inverter for powering some light appliances in an emergency
This little inverter saved us in a pinch. Was able to run our fridge, gas oven (separately) and charge devices. Also ran a gaming computer rig but the psu made some loud buzzing sounds because the waveform coming off of the inverter is not a pure sine wave. It was not able to charge any of my upses, again probably because of the waveform. Overall it did its job though.
