Exceeds Expectations
Yes! These are expensive binoculars! That said, I can attest to the fact that they far exceed the performance of any other set of binoculars I have ever used. The stabilization system coupled with the high powered lenses make them highly effective for all of the typical uses for binoculars. Any image you are trying to view is rock solid steady. The images are clear and crisp. I have owned the less expensive Canon Stabilized Binoculars and while they are helpful as compared to non-stabilized binoculars, they do not even come close to the stabilization range of the Fujinon Stabilization System. I also really like the high quality Pelican Case that the Fujinon Techno-Stabis come with. If you invest over a thousand dollars in a set of binoculars, you want to protect them. In that light, I would also recommend purchasing a set of 48mm protective lens filters, either haze filters or polarizing filters, that easily screw onto the objective lens with matching lens caps. Both of these are available on Amazon. The eyepieces come standard with lens caps but the other end, strangely, do not. Thus my recommendation for this added protection. These are very well built binoculars but, as a result, are, as others have commented, a bit heavier than what one might expect but not so much that you won't want to use them. They feel very substantial in the hand.In my personal use, I have used them at sea, on land observing wildlife, and into the night sky. Looking at a full moon wth the stabilization is truly a breath taking experience. Such great detail! My only critique would be in regards to the lack of objective lens caps that I wish would have been part of the package. My bottom line...the Fujinon Techno-Stabi Binoculars are the best binoculars I have ever found and in spite of the high price, they are worth every cent I paid. The Stabilization System makes a huge difference in how effective they are in any application.

Amazing image stabilization, super happy after 30 days of ownership
After 30 days of use, I'm 100% satisfied with this purchase. Fuji made a great pair of binoculars.I bought them for an Alaska cruise earlier this month (Sept 2016), and they worked amazingly well for that purpose. We were able to see whales in the distance that no one else saw, and I felt like I was right on the glaciers. On a whale watching tour in a smaller boat, the image was amazingly steady. Now back at home I use them for plane-spotting (we're about 20 miles from SFO), and they're incredible for that purpose. I'm able to clearly identify commercial models and airline branding that are impossible to discern from the ground unaided. It's also pretty good for looking at the moon, although there are definitely better choices for astronomy. I also had a pretty good time this week watching a squirrel sleeping on my fence. From 50 feet away, Mr. Squirrel looked very close-up.The image stabilization is freaky-good, almost magical. When you activate the stabilization, the whole world just seems to calm down and you're able to view distant objects with no shaking at all. I have no idea how it works, but you can hear quiet internal motors doing their magic as you turn right or left. The buttons are incredibly easy to use -- there are just two -- so there's no learning curve. It requires four normal AA batteries, and Toshiba batteries were included. After a month of occasional use, they're still holding a charge. As others have commented, this is a bulky product. It looks and feels more like a military item than a consumer-grade Apple-like product, but I found it easy to hold and it's clearly very well made. I splurged on 2 B+W 48mm screw-in haze filters for the front lenses and lens caps for those, and I think that was a good decision. The included strap is perfect -- no need for anything extra there. Last thing: the black custom case it ships with is great, padded, and presumably waterproof, but it's big -- almost like a mini-suitcase. I was able to stuff the whole case into my large backpack for the Alaska trip, but you won't be putting these binoculars into a purse or small carry-on bag.At this price you want to make sure these work as expected, and I was nervous about spending so much sight unseen. But after a month, I'm really glad I took the plunge.

Excellent engineering and replaceable battery pack
These are awesome and even better, engineered to last!! I screwed up and left duracell batteries in mine. Of course the batteries leaked heavily corroding the contacts! Thank goodness the battery pack was designed to be a separate replaceable component! So $35 later I have a new battery pack on the way!!!

Best Purchase I ever made, even for the cost! Well worth it!
Glad I pulled the trigger on these. Excellent optics and the stabilization is WOW! Especially on the boat. I debated these for over a year, always talking myself out of the buy. My 7x40 was difficult in any sea state, so I pretty much stopped using them to glass when on the water, getting a stabilized pair was the only viable option, but expensive! BEST PURCHASE I EVER made for boating. Now I use them even on land for stargazing or checking watching my Osprey's and their chicks that come every year.If you're on the fence, buy these, you won't be sorry. The pelican case and floating straps are a plus. You'll still want to order 49mm polarized filters and lens caps because those don't come with the deal, which I was sort of surprised about, still great set of binos especially in a moving vehicle or boat. Buy them, you won't be sorry.
