I don’t know bout a guide but I turned my table upside down lined everything up tried to center them and then pilot drill screw holes then mounted. They work great! If you can’t turn it over measure from edge in mark do same on other side mount em as center as possible then make a temp attached to the top set down and see how far off and make adjustments then permant attach

No, they pivot so that the surface is offset. You need hardware that extends straight up, like a drawer slide.

Depending on your application, they may stay at a certain height but will not lock and will move with little effort.
