Excellent blade, nice items in the kit
Great knife, really sharp. This kit comes with a belt clip, sheath, and some 550 cord to wrap the handle with. There are some other accessories that I didn't think were too useful - the clips and cord locks, but others might like them. The belt clip is ok, but I ended up cutting a piece of bicycle tire innertube and wrapped it around the sheath. It slides onto my belt and the rubber gives enough grip that I can draw it very easily from my belt. I typically carry it scout style, horizontally in the small of my back. This is a great knife and the kit has a lot of useful items in it. The price difference between the knife without the kit is pretty small so it is better to get the kit. The knife holds an edge very well and it has a nice thickness to it. For EDC this would work great, but the blade is thick enough and feels sturdy enough to use in the field and in survival situations if needed.

Simply Amazing!
This is the first knife to make me seriously reconsider carrying a non-folder for EDC (obviously, check your local laws, etc.).PROS:It is sharp, ergonomic, light, easy to re-sharpen. Third party aftermarket sources allow one to get custom handles and sheaths.Did I say it's light?CONS:OK, so it's a fixed blade knife. Once again, check your local laws. The 1095 high carbon steel is, under certain conditions, more likely to rust compared to "stainless" steels. For me, this isn't a big deal, the major portion exposed to rust is the uncoated edge. Wiping the blade dry before re-sheathing will take care of the worst of this. The areas on the blade where the logo, serial number, etc. will have a thinner coat of paint and these can be protected by something like Tuff-Glide.I originally wrapped the handle in the manner suggested with the instructions that came with the package. This improved the grip by adding a degree of texture to the handle. However the handle still seemed to lack a bit of girth to make it easier to hold. I was considering getting a set of after market G10 handles but on a lark decided to re-wrap the handle, this time with a "Strider 360 degree wrap." The improvement was enough that I'm holding off getting handles for the time being. As for the accessories, I liked the flint/firesteel, and the cord locks were handy. The sheath plate is designed for vertical carry. I prefer horizontal carry for a knife this small. The whistle actually requires the use of paracord to hold it together. I had the hardest time figuring out how to get the cord to stay in place until I realized that the inner core had to be removed in order to make the cord fit.

Great compact knife
This is an excellent knife. I was looking for a high-quality smallish fixed-blade knife that would be suitable for everyday carry and day-hikes in the woods. This blade suits me perfectly. Lightweight, compact, and yet still big enough to use for serious chores if need be. Personally, I would not consider this a neck-knife, though. No doubt it could work for that, but it's just a little bigger than I would like dangling on my chest. NOTE: mine did come with a belt-clip plate, which is not mentioned and which I unknowingly ordered a duplicate of. (Too late I noticed another reviewer commented on this.)As others have mentioned, mine too came shaving sharp, and I am very pleased with overall quality and functionality. I just wrapped the handle with the included para-cord (which is the legitimate seven-strand stuff) and am happy with the result. A note on the size: I have large but not huge hands, and I find the handle size comfortable, but not quite enough to get the pinky on it. That doesn't bother me at all; the knife still feels secure and under control.

Perfect EDC.
As stated in the title, this is the perfect EDC. Very lightweight yet sturdy knife with tons of versatile carry options included in the box. This knife came razor sharp right out of the box and easily shaved my forearm hair and paper. With a low price and a no hassle lifetime warranty, you can't go wrong!!

I love this knife
I'll admit I am biased towards ESEE knives but I am biased because they are great knives for a great price. They could charge twice as much and still have a huge following but they keep their prices very reasonable. Plus the knives are all designed, made and tested by men and women who are serious about survival training and have a lot of experience in the outdoors, in all areas of the world. The knives are made of Carbon steel and will rust, but rust isn't the end all of a knife. I keep a light coat of oil on my ESEE knives and have no problems with rust. Even if I did get some rust on it the knife would be perfectly fine.I like the Izula a lot and my first one I wrapped with paracord. With this one I ordered a set of handles from here: [...] and they really take this little knife to the next level. I like the knife alone but I highly recommend it with the handles from the knife connection. The kit is nice, but not a necessity IMO. The fire steel and clip plate are the best things about the kit but this will probably be the last time I ever buy the kit.
