Rubbish

We found a lovely victorian bookcase in the street that had been (badly) revarnished. I used Nitromors and Stop-It to start with but the 'new' colouring layer left lots of residue. I tried lots of other solvents to try and remove the residue (acetone, white spirit, methylated spirits etc.) and tried this as a last resort.My first attempt wasn't very successful because I impatiently didn't wait as specified. I tried putting it on again in a different area and then went out to do some grocery shopping. The key is let it sit. It's actually remarkably good.By using a dishwashing scouring sponge I was able to rub off the dye and the varnished bits as if I was cleaning a saucepan. You can scrape off the bulk but the scourer gets rid of the residue. You can then wash with water and wipe dry. The results are quite impressive.So, in brief — you need to let it sit for a long time but the time spent there is easily saved in time and effort with the scraping part of the removal.Just about to order some more for an old coffee table.

This product is fantastic! Works as instructed by the manufacturer. Was a great help to strip those difficult areas .Highly recommended!!!
