Ok for the money
The media could not be loaded. So initially I thought it was great and worked well, although the skimmer is useless, it doesn't float so therefore doesn't skim the surface of the water. So iv had to modify that to make it work. For some reason they cut a slit out the side of the skimmer, which meant it sat way to low in the water and sometimes wouldnt float. Iv filled that hole with hot glue to trap more air and now it sits alot higher on the suface. You can see the skimmer under the water on the photos before I had modified it.One night the filter stopped working correctly and started making an horrendous noise. I took it apart and looked inside and it was all very clean with the very little use it had. It almost sounded like it was full of air but there's is no way of getting it out. It has a little pipe that relies on being totally clear in order to bleed off the air from the top of the filter. Eventually making sure that was clear and the filter was sitting perfectly level it's working again.

Brilliant
Brilliant, mini canister filter basically, much more robust and well built than conventional HOB filters.

Leaking pipe work from new....
The media could not be loaded. This is the second of these filters I have bought in the past few months. The 1st I bought worked well for a few months then began to leak in the exact same place. I was happy with the performance of the filter so thought I would give a bigger model a go. Unfortunately this must be a manufacture issue as this is leaking in the same place right from new. I shall not buy another. Currently searching for a canister filter that's more reliable. I suggest you do the same.

Meh
Great silent and efficient

Big, bulky but quiet
Water level drops so frequently with this so the spinning oil skimmer stops working, Tank was dirtier than before after a week of use in a clean tank. Product is bulky too and sits above the tank so if you have a lid that has to be removed. The silent element did work well but overall I expected it to be better

Not easy to 'prime' but very quiet and useful
There's no port that helps you prime this HOB but I have found it to be the quietest filter in it's category. Both the inlet and outlet have simple valves to help regulate flow which helps, if you are not trying to agitate the surface of your aquarium water much.My biggest concern for this device is that the inlet goes straight to the filter media with a tiny sponge on top to reduce debris buildup. I had to DIY it a tad to move the filter media to the outlet section of the unit.So far, it's been the most reliable even better than my Oase Filtosmart 60.

Good and bad points
I bought this for a turtle tank due to it being a smaller size than other hob filters. Very noisy due to air entering from the inlet valve requiring replacement of o-rings but unfortunately being tighter to turn valve the valve itself broke apart. Had to glue the valve in place so now it has lost its function within the filter. Not sure why air was entering via the inlet valve as I also have the larger model and that doesn’t happen. I do like the possibility of using custom filter media and that I can use it in a turtle aquarium but at the shortest level on the inlet pipe the skimmer won’t work if the water level falls even slightly.
