Switching to Quality Without a Hitch
The Inora 1 Gang Switched Socket and Cooker Switch by ABB is a shining example of how functional design can still look sharp. With its red switch rockers and handy LED indicators, it’s not just practical but also easy to spot at a glance – no fumbling in the dark here.Built to last, this unit feels reassuringly sturdy. ABB has clearly put thought into the materials, combining tough polycarbonate with red copper and silver alloys for durability and smooth operation. Certified to British Standards, it meets all the safety expectations you’d want when wiring up heavy-duty appliances like a cooker. The understated design deserves a nod too. Clean lines, a subtle chamfered frame, and the gently curved rockers mean it won’t clash with your décor, no matter how fancy (or not) your kitchen is. It’s proof that minimalism doesn’t have to mean boring. In short, this socket-switch combo does exactly what you’d hope – it’s reliable, good-looking, and built to stand the test of time. Worth every penny, and frankly, it just feels nice to use.

Top Class and Classy
The media could not be loaded. Well made and looking good, this cooker switch is very practical in that the terminal screws are cross-head and the whole unit is very robust. I like the idea of the clip-on facia hiding the attachment screws and the switches are bold and sturdy - see my video. The plastics used for both the base and the surround are not identified (not marked) but the Listing states they are polycarbonate. There is a QR code on the back of the switch plate that reveals pretty much every detail about the unit. The screws provided to attach the switch plate to the back box are a little short but good quality. If you have any doubt about your ability to install this Cooker Switch, get an electrician in to do it for you. Better safe than sorry.Video: On a PC, left mouse click the maximise symbol, bottom right corner, to view the video full-screen. Tap ESC (Escape) key to leave full-screen mode. On a Smartphone, tap the video and pinch in-out to adjust the video size.

Good value socket
A good quality socket and switch.Decent terminals (rear-entry for the cable so thinner backboxes might be awkward to wire), easy to fit. The screw holes are hidden behind the front plastic facade (which might be difficult to get off in the future without knowing where the clips are holding the front plate on) but that's the design they've gone for.Decent size brass terminals and a good rating with clear labelling, bright red switches and illumination.A good socket, for the price.

Socket & Style
I’ve tried this single gang socket with a fused spur switch, and it’s quite practical for appliances like cookers. The red switches and LED indicators are helpful for visibility and safety, making it feel well-thought-out.The materials seem solid, with polycarbonate and metal parts that look built to last. The design is neat and modern, blending in well with my home’s interior without standing out too much. It feels reliable for everyday use.Overall, it’s a simple yet effective addition. It does the job while looking smart, and the attention to safety standards gives some peace of mind.

Power terminals at the bottom, cooker terminals at the top
This is a combined 45 amp cooker switch and 13 amp socket outlet made by ABB. You may not have heard of ABB before, but there's a pretty good chance that the electricity coming into your home has come through equipment manufactured by them; the 400/275kV national "supergrid" makes extensive use of ABB equipment, so their mains voltage products such as this double socket ought to be of decent quality.Obviously being a cooker switch it needs a deep back box to accommodate the cables and the depth of the cooker switch. The rockers have a firm, but not too stiff action, and both switches have an LED indicator above to show that power is present. Note that the socket switch on these is larger than that of other sockets in the Inora range, and has a red rocker. An outer clip-on edge plate hides the fixing screws and provides a neat finish. The plate only clips on one way round and has an ABB logo moulded into the corner which helps you see which way up it needs to go. Hook on at the top, push in at the bottom, job done.A final thing to note is that the input terminals are at the bottom and the output terminals at the top, even though a cooker cable is likely to exit at the bottom because that's where the cooker's going to be. Get these mixed up and the power indicator will stick on and the socket will only work if the cooker's on as well.
