It's described perfectly in most of the reviews. It's a heavy duty casting. Not much was done other than taking it out of the mold knocking off the lumps and minimal grinding. Painted as is. It's an economical fix for needing a grate and looks are not what you need. Going for a grate machined and ground smooth would set you back much more than what this unit sells for. Mine fits my needs perfectly. Highly recommend.

Works great. Nice solid piece and the paint has been holding up. Hardest part was actually cutting the concrete to make it fit.

These grates are made to withstand heavy weight while keeping the drainage system open and working. We’ve dug some gray water drains and dry wells around the property to avoid standing water when it rains. Believe it or not, we do get some heavy rain in South Texas - just not very often. This cast iron drain grate is heavy, square, welded well and will perform beautifully. However, if you want a grate that looks the part because it is going to be in a high traffic area and you are looking for aesthetically pleasing drain gates, you may want to consider something else.Clearly the coating process needs some work. The grate is coated all over, but the top rows of the grate (or the bottom, depending on your perspective) have extra tear-drop coating hanging from the grate - very consistently, so this is a manufacturing issue. I am not concerned about that, and those will probably get worn down over time.I like that this grate is square which is important because it is designed to rest on top of a support that doesn’t come as part of the same package. Basically, the drainage system assumes the grate will be the correct dimensions, so if it weren’t square there would be a problem. It is heavy enough to withstand the “oops” of missing the driveway while backing in and rolling an SUV over it…pretty regularly.If you need these - this is a good one.

This is a nice, heavy duty cast iron grate that seems like it is more than strong enough to handle most applications. The casting is done well and the metal itself is deburred sufficiently for this type of product. The coating is a bit iffy, it looks like it was applied really messily and heavily and allowed to drip off. Time will well if it holds up in the thinner parts, but it probably will be an issue if I had to guess. Overall it's a nice grate, though, and if you're not in a highly corrosive environment it should be fine.

It's not the best quality or the most heavy-duty, but it will do the job I need it to do. The manufacturer's painting/coating method is absolutely horrible though. The paint or coating is so heavy in some places and non-existent in others as evidenced by the rust on the grate straight out of the box. I'm being generous with 4 stars.

Heavy duty grate

This is a perfect replacement of our old grate. It is very heavy duty and coated so it should last a long long time!
