Q: Great hand-held flashlight, in addition to being a great bike light--but I would love to find a way to attach a lanyard. Any thoughts on that?

No real loop to run a lanyard cord through. However, the surface has square treads on it. So, a zip tie would stay in place securely. I would use a zip tie to hold the lanyard cable and the light together.

Q: The battery is supposed to last 7 hours on normal mode, but how long does it last on 860 lumens?

I haven't completely drained mine yet but I have used it at least 4 hours on 860 lumens

Q: Defective battery or light? I followed instructions & the battery anode faces forward & rear cap securely tightened. Charged 12hr but no light!

When charging this unit, a blue light should appear around the on/off button all during the charging, and it shuts off when the battery is fully charged. If this is not happening, check the way you are charging.

Q: Can you mount it on your helmet?

Not with he hardware it comes with--unless I missed something. You could probably saw off the bracket and screw it into your helmet with a backing plate. Seems like too much trouble.
