My county pound uses this
I adopted a dog a month ago from the Rabies Animal Control in Maricopa County and they are using this product on all their dogs. Over the first two weeks, I only saw two ticks get on him. One wasn't attached. The other was attached but not gorged. I hadn't planned to continue with the Provecta. I was going to use something else, but, this seems to work just fine. So, I'll stick with it.I've also been working on killing any ticks in the environment itself. Since I tried many products, I wanted to mention what worked - 7.9% Bifenthrin Concentrate. Note: This is not something you'd put on your dog but to dilute and spray indoor/outdoor in cracks and crevices. You have to be really careful with it, but it seems to have killed off any ticks in the environment, as I haven't seen a single one in a few weeks since I sprayed. If you are fighting ticks or fleas, another product I'd recommend is a set of very fine tooth combs. That way you can comb your pet every day to make sure they remain pest free and keep on top of it.Anyway, I give Provecta a 5 since it does have some repelling power and no ticks have gorged themselves since he's been on it. That's super important because in the life cycle of a dog tick, they lay eggs after that last gorging stage. They lay somewhere between 4,000 to 6,500 eggs and then die. If that happens in your house, you can have an infestation before you know it. So, this is a great product, but if you've seen any, you also want to treat the environment and really keep on top of it.

Treatment not effective
I have used Frontline and other products in the past that work right away to fight off fleas. I have been using it for 2 months on my 9 lb chihuahua and she continues to have a couple fleas and severe itching.

Tubes Leak
This product works very well for controlling fleas. I have used the dog flea repellent on my toy poodle for 2 years with success. I have used the cat flea repellent on my two cats for over 5 years with no problems and great success. The only issue is numerous times I have received tubes that have either busted or was never properly sealed and the flea repellent evaporated. This does not seem to be a shipping and handling problem, rather a mishap with the factory packaging the product. This was never an issue in the past but the last three times I have ordered Provecta (dog or cat formula) I am losing money getting empty tubes. This time I reported the issue to Amazon because 3 of 4 tubes were empty. Before it had only been one tube occassionally empty in the box and I never complained. I trust this product for my animals but it isn't worth ordering and receiving empty tubes so often.

Good Stuff
Good stuff and doesn’t let the fleas or ticks bite. Think about the chewables; fleas and ticks have to bite your pup in order to be killed. This stuff repels them. Been using this brand for years, works great!

Very difficult to open
The product arrived pretty quickly which was good since we had discovered fleas on our Yorkie for the first time ever. Unfortunately, the little tubes were almost impossible to open with my husband also working at it. I did read the directions first and we were following them. My husband eventually got it open and today (the next day) the fleas appear to be gone. So I would say the medication is effective, but I will not buy it again.
