What is Competition Grade coffee...?
I guess I'm not a sufficiently worldly coffee aficionado to know the difference between common grade coffee and Competition Grade, but I do know that this coffee produces a pleasant, smooth, well balanced brew. I used both a manual French press for regular brew as well as a DeLonghi Magnifica for espresso and both produced very enjoyable results. As a medium roast, I expected a bit of nuttiness that is characteristic of a light roast, along with the mocca flavor that presents in medium roasts; this coffee is spot on, with both of those flavors present. The espresso is bright and very smooth. This is a quality product and a decent value. I do recommend this coffee for your consideration.

Good coffee.
This is a huge bag of coffee, so I hope you have a container to put the beans in, as the bag is not resealable (you can fold the top over, but it doesn't have a reseal strip or anything). The beans themselves looked good; they weren't oily or broken. They ground up well and made a nice, smooth cup of coffee that wasn't acidic like some coffees.I'd say it's a little bit more expensive than I'd typically expect to pay for a bag of coffee beans, but there are 2.2 lbs of coffee in the bag, so the price isn't egregious.

Great Coffee, Confusing Marketing
Well I got these beans on Vine and they took some time to arrive. I'm comparing these vs. an Italian mid-range brand which has something to do with a volcano. These win, in short, for many reasons. This marketing had me quite confused. My semi-decent Spanish had me confused as I didn't recall what a Semeuse is but I associated it with the sombrero. One sleepy morning as I'm trying to figure this out and grinding these beans I'm even more flummoxed with the 'Flavor Reich label' and German-ish sources. At this point, with confusion between Spanish (just the label and the name?) and German I had to visit the website to find the story. In short summary-the founder, Mr. Bloch, an Alsace Frenchman, relocated to Switzerland. He got called away for WWI and died, his widowed wife continued onward. A Semeuse is a lady sower for the field, upon the French coins, and hence the name. The sombrero was to celebrate the source of the beans and the harvesters. With that background the Sombrero and Swiss (not German) packaging all makes more sense. But why are we here, is it for the marketing? No, that coffee is great! I got the Mocha Surfin' which has a thick chocolate-like flavor profile. It's more of a rich, creamy, strong coffee flavor. I am comparing these vs. the Oro roast, which was my favorite from the other company, and these are comparable in flavor (Oro being lighter, these darker and more 'chocolatey') but...easier on the stomach. I prefer black double shots of expresso and after two of these one's stomach may be an acidic pit. With La Semeuse, I have had 2x double shots in a day without any issue. This is less acidic on top of a smooth flavor so it's a great combo. With this, I may even try 4x or 5x doubleshots so I can move faster than the speed of light! If you're buying beans start with the good stuff like these! One doesn't need to add tons of sugar and creme to make coffee great, just great beans. And these are better than the competing brand b/c I can consume more of this. The flavor is good with a smooth flavor profile, no bitter aftertaste, and I don't get too much acid. The main US retailer for coffee makes bucks from charred beans so one has to mask the burnt flavor with gobs of creme and sugar or pumpkin spice. These beans don't need anything, which is how they should be made straight from the plant, and that's how they're great. Once I got past my misunderstandings on the branding I really began to love the high altitude roast that these have been known for over 100 years. It's good and I'm going to continue buying more and trying different flavors and blends.

Competition Grade Quality
This coffee is absolutely rich and flavorful. The 100% Arabica beans provide a smooth, well-balanced taste with a refined richness, perfect for coffee lovers who enjoy a high-quality brew. It’s a barista competition grade, so it has that premium feel, making it ideal for both casual coffee drinkers and those who appreciate more refined flavors. The Mocca Surfin is made in Switzerland, and you can really tell the quality in every cup. The 1kg size is great for those who drink coffee regularly. I love the smooth, aromatic experience with each brew!

Decent coffee beans
These beans are decent. Nothing to write home about, but solid for a roughly grocery-store-tier dark roast. Definitely happy to serve this guests as long as they aren't connoisseurs.

Not as strong as I'd like
I ordered this package for its value and size. I found these whole beans well-sealed and very fresh smelling. They grind up nicely and brewed smoothly in my drip coffee maker, with a pleasant and easy-to-drink flavor. It's a decent selection of beans, but it's not strong enough for my taste. I'll probably try a different product the next time I'm looking.

Smooth, chocolatey flavor
This is good coffee. I love the chocolate taste and smoothness. It doesn't have the bitter, burned taste that some coffees have. My favorite way to brew it is in my 4 cup pour over coffee maker, but it's good made by other methods as well.

Great coffee
I liked this coffee and used airtight containers to store the excess beans that don't fit in my grinder hopper. Very good tasting whole coffee beans and very evenly roasted through out the bag. Just make sure you have something to store them in as this isn't resealable.
