Worth the Money
Super set of brushes. They hold a lot of paint and make it available through a broad mop or a tiny tip. You can lay down a lot of color for wide washes and follow up with exquisite detail using the same load of paint. Three sizes of brush give you a range of choices for your work. They’re great and I love them. Sorry that I can’t show you an example of my work using the brushes but it’s probably best as it saves your artistic heart from collapsing in horror. Get the brushes, they are great.

Great bushes, great value.
These brushes a super for day to day urban sketching and watercolor painting. They hold a lot of water and material and give a consistent release based on stroke and pressure. Nothing is as good as sable, but these will do nicely and are far less expensive. Give them a try!

Love them!
I love these brushes! I’m fairly new to watercolor and might not know enough about brushes to have a professional opinion. But I love them. They do shred a bit of hair though. But so far it hasn’t been too much of an issue for me.

They’re ok. Advert claims on webpage and box don’t match, though
Mine arrived in a box that stated: “Sable Watercolor Brushes”. However, the Amazon advert has them described as “synthetic squirrel”. Usually, when I receive an item with two different descriptions, I tend to go with what is inscribed on the product, rather than the webpage description. So, there’s that, right off the bat.I don’t know what these hairs are. If I was forced to guess, I would be of the opinion that they are made with what’s called, ‘synthetic squirrel”, although who knows what *that* is, anyway? Let’s just say, I have sable brushes, and synthetic sable brushes, and these three by Golden Maple are not like my brushes in either of those categories. They are most similar to my brushes that were described as “synthetic squirrel”. Hairs that are baby fine, black, and soft.I suppose I could have tested these out against my sable brushes. But instead, I tested these out against my other synthetic squirrel mop brushes, once I decided that that’s probably what these are. These mops come in a set of 3: small (2), medium (4), and large (6). Like all the Golden Maple brushes I’ve tested, they come beautifully packaged and presented. Beautiful logo, nice box. They are presented in much nicer packaging than any other brushes in this category.I test out all mop brushes the same way. I take out a sheet of cold pressed cotton watercolor paper, some paint, and some water. Then, one by one, I load each brush with as much paint and water that they can hold, and then I use the brush to create the same cursive letter as long and as far as I can to see how long one such brush can go with just one load. I also observe how well they keep their points. The first two brushes, 2 and 4, almost made it to three consecutive lines going the long way on a sheet measuring 9 *12. The third brush, number 6, went considerably longer, at well over 4 lines of cursive or calligraphic lettering. Moreover, the point was the best on number 6. The other two were mediocre in performance on the points and fine lining. If somebody gave me $25 to purchase synthetic squirrel mop brushes, or if I assigned the purchase to students, I don’t think I’d choose this set at this time. For roughly the same price as these, I might opt to go with the set of red handled mops by NicPro instead. The latter not only offers three times the amount of brushes for the same price; they also managed to combine some snap to the points giving the best of all worlds: a synthetic squirrel mop that can provide baby fine lines and seemingly go on and on for an amazing time per each load of the brush. Just my opinion. To Golden Maple, I’d say that your products, presentation, and logo make a grand impression visually. In my opinion, the performance of the products should be tweaked to match the same high standards. Also, your advert claims on box and webpage don’t match as of this writing of this review. Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to test and review these brushes.

Excellent brushes
These brushes allow for light pressure and heavy pressure perfectly. They hold water very well, so remember to dab them on a cloth or paper towel until you know how much wetness is needed. These brushes wash easily and maintain their points use after use. I am very happy with them.

Nice, holds water, but sheds
Great price. Looks nicely packaged. Holds a lot of water however they "shed". Is it really synthetic as it states that the "hair" is trimmed. So description of "synthetic squirrel" hair is contradictory. It is either or. It cannot be both, can it?
