Bright red and bright and mild flavor
So many recipes call for Aleppo pepper I finally broke down and bought some. It has a very mild taste and, when sprinkled on pizza, almost undetectable. It has a fresh smell and seems to be of excellent quality. These are good pepper flakes for those who don't like a lot of heat.

not shelf stable
turned to mold in less than a year in a very dry spice cabinet, nothing else I own in the same cabinet degraded as fast as this did. before it molded the flakes were super wet and moist so tbh I am no surprised. wonder how many mold spores I managed to eat before it started to bloom, do not buy this if you care for your health.

Great Spice
I love this spice. It gives a little pep, but not too much. It adds a rich flavor to so many things. You can just sprinkle it on nearly anything you make like soups, salads, vegetables, baked or fried dishes. I use it on fried potatoes too. You never have to worry about it being too hot.

Store in a place that is dark and cool but NOT the refrigerator. Store with a 1 gram FOOD GRADE silica gel pack inside the jar to absorb moisture. Search Amazon for Desiccant packets Dehumidifier packs BUT ensure they are FOOD GRADE.

Not in it for the long run…
I bought this on May 8, 2024. Today is January 7, 2025. I went to use some of my Aleppo pepper and found it completely molded. What a let down! I’ve never had a dried spices mold on me. And never any of my variety of dried and crushed peppers. When I used it way back in May and June, it was good! But never in my 40 years have I had a dried spice mold—and I checked everything else. This was the only thing that molded. I gave it 2 stars because I remember it being good when I first got it, but it really deserves a 1 for shelf life… or zero really.
