I have a walkout basement that includes the garage. There is a "man" door next to the main garage door. It is solid with no glass. Even with security cameras, if the power goes out or the batteries die in the cameras, or my WiFi stops, I can't see someone prowling around or trying to get in, so I got this"viewer" for the door.It is solidly made, has a simple design, yet looks good. It has a 200 degree field of view so when I look through it, I can see the back of the house from end-to-end. For an inexpensive device the optics are very good. It has a little round cover that swivels from a point on the edge of the viewer, which can be turned to cover the inside opening. It's my first experience with a cover, and although a small addition to the product, it adds another level of security.The only negative I have for this product is that it didn't come with instructions. I didn't need instructions to install it except for knowing the diameter of the drill bit I would need. I had to find the product in Amazon to see its dimensions. It was a simple installation that only took 10 minutes.I advise everyone to have this type of device on every exterior door for security, and I highly recommend this product.
