This author does not disappoint
We read Sister Lumberjack for our book club, and then had a Zoom meeting with Candace Simar. We all agreed it was a compelling read, with great characters and we all learned something about an area and era of our country which before we hadn't known. Candace's research made her characters come to life ( some were real characters) and the storyline did not disappoint!

Another great book from my favorite author!
Gripping story with historical interest and compelling characters. Great to hear the continued story of Solvieg, a character in previous books by Candace. Our book club is reading together and invited the author to join in on the discussion! Can't wait!

Compelling understanding of lumberjack life
Instantly swept up in the story from the first page, even a reader heretofore unfamiliar with Minnesota's logging history, will find it difficult to put the book down. The culture of the lumberjack camp life and the entanglements of the collection of folks who are tossed together to make the camp run are spun artfully throughout the story. A stellar addition to Candace Simar's many great books.

Unlikely Trio in Minnesota's Wild!
"Sister Lumberjack" is a captivating historical novel that weaves together the stories of three unforgettable characters. The main characters in the novel paths collide at a chaotic logging camp, where their unique friendship blossoms amidst harsh conditions and unexpected challenges. I find the book to be about second chances, and the power of friendship in the face of adversity. Recommend!

A Must Read
I loved this book. The characters come alive and so cleverly written. I didn’t want to finish it, but when I did, it left me wondering what each character did after that! I love the way Candace uses factual history to create her stories.

“The sun dipped like a bloody egg in a sea of blazing pinks and orange, a backdrop behind the outbuildings” I will savor my rereading of this novel which is so gorgeous. I’ve loved Candace’s character Solveig since I met her many years ago and I admire how Candace takes us inside her grief and her hatred of her daughter-in-law—a town girl —- the hussy. Such honesty!
