Handy set of uninsulated ring crimps at a reasonable price point. No major problems or complaints.
These ring terminal crimps arrived in the usual latched plastic sorting case you get for screws, crimps, and other miscellaneous item sets. You get quite a wide mixture of crimps which are suitable for different screw terminal widths and wire gauges and it should cover pretty much any application that requires a ring-terminal. Combining the crimps with some self-fusing silicone tape or silicone heat shrink makes an excellent temperature resistant (higher than the usual nylon ones) and electrically safe connection that is both economical and DIY friendly. The crimps themselves aren’t anything particularly special in overall quality but they’ve taken a crimp from my tools without an issue. I’ve been able to get serviceable connections that pass a tug test every time on a variety of wire sizes using my dedicated ratcheting crimpers. Keep in mind you’ll need a tool specifically made for crimping these uninsulated terminals, most of the tools with them built into the handle tend to be intended for the insulated versions, which aren’t compatible.I do wish that the printed label in the box had the same recommended wire-gauges shown in the images for each of the crimps in addition to the name and quantity, there is more than enough room honestly. It’s not exactly a huge issue but it would be an easy addition that would improve the experience significantly. Each of the terminals does have a stamped pair of numbers showing the wire gauge they’re suitable for, but having to dig through and check them one by one isn’t ideal. The only other thing about these is that the box specifically calls these out as brass terminals, which doesn’t match up with the product listing’s title, which states copper. They do seem to be tin or nickel plated brass, as it looks exactly like brass when I sanded down one of the crimps. At the end of the day, £4.99 for a set of 250 is hard to fault and they’ve been holding up just fine for my hobbyist level projects and modifications to everyday items.
