Runes for the Green Witch: An Herbal Grimoire (Sacred Planet)

I am such a HUGE fan of fellow Pittsburgh Witch Nicolette Miele. I think everything this woman creates is BRILLIANT. From her handcrafted oils and incenses to her magnificent runes, her magickal prowess is evident in everything she creates. Nicole’s Instagram feed is an aesthetically pleasing feast for the eyes, with photo captures that play with light and texture in a way that can only be described as mesmerizing. When it came to my attention that she had authored a book I knew that we were all in for a real treat. Runes for the Green Witch is a captivating read right from the start. Not only is the cover art incredibly beautiful, it lets the reader know exactly what’s in store-mystical plants, sacred magick, and of course, knowledge of the Elder Futhark Runes. The book begins with an introduction that feels like chatting with a friend. I found myself giggling and exclaiming “ME TOO!” as well as gasping and whispering “WOW”. Next, Nicole flexes her teaching muscles when she educates us regarding some plant magick basics. From there, she goes on to give us a brief introduction to the Elder Futhark Runes, before taking us on an incredible journey with each rune and its plant-ally counterparts. The runes are presented according to Aett. Each rune is described in great detail, including pronunciation, which I deeply appreciate. Next, magickal correspondences are listed for each rune. Then we go on to learn mystical and medical properties for each plant associated with the rune. The book closes with an incredibly thoughtful and generous Runic Formulary in which the author teaches us to formulate plant magicks such as teas, tinctures, and oils to support our workings with the runes. Not only does she supply her own formulas, she arms the reader with the knowledge for creating their own magickal concoctions. Additionally, she supplies readers with a glossary so that new vocabulary is easily accessible.I highly recommend this book for anyone who is interested in deepening their relationship with both plants and the elder futhark runes. It’s well-written, beautifully organized, and will be a resource I turn to for years to come!

A very easy read, yet filled with a plethora of knowledge and experience. Miele is well versed in rune Magick.This book will be my go-to guide in my own personal practice.

This book is the most informative book I have on the Runes as related to general Pagan practices and herbalism. The list of correspondences for each rune is most comprehensive. I refer to the book constantly. In addition to all this, it is well written and most interesting.

Reading this book was like chatting with a good friend - a friend who has a lot of wisdom to share on herbs and runes. I LOVE the correspondence lists for each rune and the formulary at the end was a pleasant surprise. I’ve read lots of rune books and was ready for info that I already know, and sure the traditional info is there but the author brings a fresh perspective. This is definitely one of those books I’ll reach for over and over again. Highly recommend.

This book is an earth lovers dream. So much knowledge packed into such a small space.

Fast delivery. Have not had a chance to read it yet but first glance was impressive.

So worth it. Not only does it tell you about each specific rune in detail, it also tells you about the complementary plan with thorough definition and application. Worth every penny.
