Nice set of stones
They have a nice wood base to hold on to and they work as expected. But as with any stone you have to know how to use them.

Much easier than waterstones...
These work very well, I recommend also picking up a coarse diamond stone for putting on a new edge. These very quickly put on a nice razor sharp edge on my kitchen knives and chisels after i resurfaced them with a diamond stone. I previously used a combination waterstone, and it took a long time to use, given the prep of soaking resurfacing, and then the clean up- this did a similarly great job in much less time.
