If you fascism and capitalism are the same thing, you’ll love this
I’ll be honest, I couldn’t finish this and it isn’t very long. If you want to be told that fascism is basically the ultimate destination of any remotely capitalist society and that only a hardcore dose of socialism can prevent it, then this is the book for you.If you are sensible and realise that capitalism is what everyone does nowadays because hey, that’s the only reason you can even read this review, it’s worth reading anyway just to see how bonkers the extreme left really is. The fact that Amazon appears to be pushing this line of free books also tells you a lot about the Silicon Valley set.

a good warning to all.
A very good history of world fascism over the 20th century, and how certain key factors cause fascist politics to thrive, handy for noting down the signs so that you can be out of the country before the readers of the daily mail take over.

Doesn't understand what fascism was and is.
Doesn't understand what fascism was, and what it is, this book provides a half hearted rehash of trotskyoid myths, placing the mass support for fascism onto the shoulders of a (mythical) middle class, rather than recognise it for what it is; a nationalist mass movement of reform within capitalism which sells itself to its supporters by promising a utopian dream of a unified community based upon race or nation. The historical roots of fascism are particularly poor, Mussolini's roots in Italian Socialism are virtually ignored, as are Gentile's syndicalism, and Mosley's role as central leader of the ILP left is relegated to 'a minor member of the Labour Cabinet. Fascism comes from the political left of Capitalism- it wants to reform away capitalisms failings. It despairs of the constraints of democracy and is contemptuous of the mass of humanity; but needs those masses for its support. However horrific the consequences of fascism- the mass industrialised murder of millions is one of the most heinous crimes in human history; it never moved beyond being another capitalist regime. Everyday more die directly through the consequences of a capitalist world: unnecessarily from hunger amidst plenty or from disease easily treatable, or in the constant wars between competing ruling classes for profits and spoils. And this is the tragedy of all who stand up to the fascists.when one sees fascism as a uniquely evil movement, one is constantly under pressure to defend and alibi the status quo.Only when the majority understand and desire a different way to run the world-without private property, wages, money etc. And everything is free for all, can the horror of capitalism which spawns the horror of fascism be swept away forever.

Stuart Hood describes the rise of Fascism in great detail with fantastic graphic artwork by Litza Jansz
I own an Icon imprint of this book from 1993 when it was called Fascism for Beginners, and it stays by my bed. Stuart Hood describes the rise of Fascism in great detail with fantastic graphic artwork by Litza Jansz. It's essential reading 20+ years on, and describes the confusion that Fascism set out to create in those it meant to destroy: traditional conservatives, liberals and socialists. It helps you understand the aims of ultraconservatives, and the way they worked in the past to achieve results by force with disastrous and horrific consequences.

claiming fascist is being like national socialism
A real catastrophe, this is what a liberal would think what fascism is,which is almost completely wrong, you can read the first few pages and see that the author is an ignorant fool, claiming fascist is being like national socialism, racist and a deep hatred towards the jews. It is plainly wrong. It is not a practical to read, tedious and full of wrong quotes, don't buy! But if you are a very naive and conformist person,if you do agree with what you believe in the media and newspaper, then,go for that piece of trash!

Brilliant and simple explanation of what exactly is fascism and ...
Brilliant and simple explanation of what exactly is fascism and what isn't. There's a historical review of different countries where it gained control of the masses and how they were unique. Lastly it tells us why fascism can realistically come back any time.I recommend everyone should read it to know where we are in the world politics right now and how precisely is the process of fascism being replicated in all major countries.

A good start but needs more development
I own several different entries in this series of graphic guides. While the graphics are almost always eye-catching and entertaining, the accompanying texts varies considerably in quality. In my view, this entry falls far below those on Shakespeare, The Enlightenment and Nietzsche,As I see it, this guide suffers from two flaws: 1). Most of the information here is on the level of factoids. 2) There does not seem to be any progression/development of the concepts presented. If you haven't read anything else about Fascism, then this may be a good place to start. It's pretty basic. Otherwise you might want to look into the series on Fascism posted online @ Slate a few months ago or perhaps check out the entry on Fascism in the Very Short Introduction Series.

Good summary
Bought a different version in Europe about 15 years ago, great summary of the thinking behind fascism from the English perspective.
