Delicious
This is a very good quality Carolina gold rice. We used our rice cooker to make it and it turned out good. Very aromatic and delicious with just a little butter.

The best Carolina Heirloom Rice I've ever had!
If you've ever watched season 1 of "High on the Hog" there is an interview with the owner/operator of Geechee Boy Mills - a yellow rice curated and cultured by the very rice cultivated in the rice plantations of the Carolina Low Country. Historians believe the rice was brought over by the slaves from Africa and hidden in their braids, planted and harvested by them as a food from the home they were taken from. The owner of Geechee Boy Mills cultivated the heirloom seeds and began planting and milling his product. It's one reason the price is high, but the taste is worth it. For any of those wondering, Geechee Boy Mills was changed to Marsh Hen Mills to avoid the cultural appropriation connotations of using the name "Geechee Boy."

Cooking with history
This is truly some amazing rice. Versatile, you can use it for any rice dish. I wish it was a product available in my local grocery store, but it is pricey. But really tasty!

It's rice for sure
I ordered this rice because I couldn't find it where I am located locally. For the price it's pricey but I wanted to try it because of what I heard about and saw on a few cooking programs. The grains are shorter and it cooks a bit different than other white rice varieties. I would use less water to cook it because the two times I cooked this rice it was a bit mushy midway deep in the pot. Even when added to the red peas it was not as firm as I wanted by following the recipe so a bit less water I think would help achieve ideal rice texture. Overall if you are looking to make a traditional recipe for a special meal then spring for this rice if you can't find it locallyOtherwise save $$$.
