Awesome plastic-free percolator!
I've been using a Keurig for a couple years and decided I wanted to get away from so much plastic, especially for very hot liquids. After doing research, I settled on a percolator. Given how easy it is to return things free with Amazon, I actually ordered 6 different models to compare in person. Only two of them ended up being completely free of plastic/synthetic material on the parts that contact the hot coffee. Most had a plastic or silicone seal around the glass top sight glass thing, or the sight "glass" was actually plastic. One, the Coletti Bozeman that claims to be "only glass, stainless steel and wood," had a silicone or other polymer seal on the inside of the pour spout. This percolator has none of that. The handle is plastic, but the coffee never touches that.Compared to the one other percolator I found that was truly plastic free (Mereza brand), this one has a more comfortable handle and doesn't burn your hand. That one is easy to burn your hand on because of the shape of the handle and how close it is to the pot.I like that this percolator can make small amounts of coffee. With my Keurig, I would make 20oz (two rounds of 10 ounces each). This percolator can make that amount just fine. Reviews of some other 8-cup percolators suggested they didn't work well if not used to close to full capacity. This one does just fine. The biggest thing I don't love about this one is that the hinged top is permanently attached. I modified mine by cutting one end of the hinge pin off, driving it out with a hammer and punch, and replacing it with a looser fitting steel pin I can remove when I clean it. I rinse everything daily and wash with soap once a week (all but the pot itself and lid can go in the dishwasher). This thing makes super hot coffee. I fill to just below the "6" mark with lukewarm water and use two slightly heaping tablespoons of ground coffee. I put it on my gas stove's smallest burner on medium heat for 17 minutes total (which works out to around 7 minutes of actual percolating). I then turn off the heat and let it sit for 25-30 minutes while I do other stuff. Then it's the right temperature for me.I've been using the very finely ground coffee out of the few Keurig pods I have left and there is very little that makes it into the brew, certainly not enough to feel gritty in my mouth. This is not as convenient as my Keurig was, but the coffee tastes great and I feel it is healthier in the long run...

Excellent percolator
I’ve tried 3 different percolators here on Amazon and this one won the test. The other 2 had rosewood handles and shallow baskets with perforated holes that let the coffee grinds fall through no matter what I did. The best part about this pot is the unique basket design, which doesn’t let the grinds through, eliminating the need for filters or straining the coffee. I also love that the lid locks into the pot, so there’s no danger of the basket falling out when pouring the last of the coffee. The top percolator knob is now made of glass, not plastic, but I haven’t had any issues. I’m not crazy about the small spring that holds up the basket, but it’s a minor inconvenience. The handle is a superior design, I really like the heavy duty plastic that stays cool, has a thumb rest and sits away from the pot. I also want to note that although this is an 8 cup pot, it’s actually slightly larger in size than the 9 cup pots and produces the same amount of coffee. The markings are very easy to read, unlike the other pots I tried, and you have the option of brewing 4, 6, or 8 servings at a time. I usually make just 4 servings, which makes one heaping mug of coffee for me (roughly about 16-20 ounces). Oh, and it makes wonderful coffee. I’ve been drinking pour over for years, but I love the ease of the percolator, being able to brew a whole pot of piping hot coffee, and the sense of nostalgia. I feel like using this pot, I can get away with not using anything super fancy or artisanal. If you live near an Aldi, their regular German roast ground coffee is super affordable and makes a respectable cup of coffee that won’t break the bank. It’s my go to for when I need a full pot of coffee.Overall a great percolator that’s a step ahead of the competition, heavy duty stainless steel, beautiful design and very affordable. One caveat- if you have an induction stove, it may or may not work. I can’t explain why, it’s not magnetic steel, but sometimes it works oddly enough. Starting it out on low heat and then turning it up gradually is a trick that has worked for me. Super annoying for the time being, but I’m moving anyway and plan on taking my percolator with me, the coffee is amazing! One month update- the glass percolator top broke after only a few weeks of use despite trying to be careful. I’m hearing that this is an issue with most percolator tops and not just this brand. I still love the coffee pot, so I started looking on Amazon for a compatible plastic top so I’m not having to constantly replace glass tops. The GSI resin percolator top is around $5 and seems to be a good fit. It’s made from heavy duty resin plastic, so I’ll be switching over to that in hopes it won’t crack and lasts longer than the glass tops.3 month update- Still loving this coffee pot, no more issues with glass knobs breaking, I’m just extra cautious not to let the coffee boil too hard, which ruins the taste of the coffee anyway, aside from potentially cracking the glass top. I’ve recently tried a few electric percolators hoping they would speed up the process, but I have yet to find one that makes coffee as tasty as this stove top model. I think having full control over the brewing process makes a big difference, including the level of heat and the brewing time. I highly recommend this percolator, especially if you are just starting out. Electric percolators are easily three times the price and have not been reliable in my experience.

Great tasting coffee
I have used multiple percolators over the years and found that the good ones have one distinguishing feature, and that is a grounds basket that is the correct size. Many percolators have a basket that is too wide, i.e., the diameter is too large, resulting in weak coffee because the grounds are spread out rather than concentrated. I like this percolator because of the size of its basket, not too wide. The pot is solid, hefty stainless steel, which I prefer to lightweight aluminum. I withheld one star because of three design issues that are more personal preference than defects in the pot. The lid is permanently attached to the pot with a hinge, which makes cleaning a little more difficult and potential damage more probable. An unattached lid would have been preferable. All of the pots I have used have a small protrusion on the post on which the basket sits. This pot uses a spring that goes on the post. Lose the spring and the basket will then sit very low in the pot. Finding a replacement of the correct size would be very problematic. Lastly, the top is plastic; I prefer glass. All in all, I would buy this pot again. It has the correct basket, which I think is the key to good coffee.
