Best Step Ladder I have Ever Had.
This is the best step ladder I have ever had.It is light, sturdy, and exceeding well designed.I feel confident when standing near the top.The tool rack on the top is very useful for holding a range of tools. The 2 handrails are a good safety feature that makes climbing the ladder much easier. It is easy to assemble with clear instructions. The only slight drawback and this is minor, is to fit the tool rack a self-tapping screw is provided that has a drill bit at the end of the screw to drill into the aluminium frame. I could not get this to work so had to drill a small hole using the tool rack as a guide for the position of the hole. In my mind to complete the assembly you will need a drill.Apart from this very minor drawback of having to drill a hole I highly recommend these stepladders. I have had them now for around 18 months and have had no problems at all.Well done to the design team for creating a first-class product.

Great ladders
Needed to reach a high area in kitchen to clean velux windows. Bought these ladders and they didn't disappoint felt very stable and safe. And with the tray on top had somewhere to put cleaning products.

Mind your feet
It's an odd complement to give a step ladder but this item is quite attractive as step ladders go. It is silver (as expected) with edging and a top platform in red plastic. I was looking for something higher than my existing 5 step ladder but most of what I saw were either very expensive or unstable looking. Finally I happened on the Abbey and well pleased that I did. A competitive price and yet it seems well designed and a quality build. The plastic tray which is fitted onto the top is a great idea. The tray was supplied with a securing screw but as I could find no corresponding hole in the top frame, I had to drill one. Easy enough into aluminium but even then the tray does not sit quite square but nevertheless, very secure and useful.Naturally a larger ladder can be more unwieldly to use for a quick lightbulb change or ceiling painting where it needs to be moved about one handed a lot. Similarly, when using the ladder facing forward, the extra height means that with legs extended, one is further away horizontally from target. However, the additional height allows you to reach higher with a greater feeling of safety particularly as the Abbey has a large support arc above the top step to lean against or hold onto. Ideal for those jobs for which previously I was tottering on tip toe on a top step, knees knocking and being grateful that I don't live far away from a fracture clinic. I thought that the side handles would get in the way of working sideways off the ladder but I have found them a definite boon. They are easily detachable though.I wish that I had bought this item years ago."This is my step ladder. I never knew my real ladder" (Sorry)UpdateAfter 9 months of occassional use, ( I have a shorter, lighter and more manouverable ladder step ladder for general use) one of the small red plastic caps over one of the feet of the ladder broke and fell off. I contacted Abbey regarding a replacement and was told that it would cost £8 (incl pand p) for a replacement. In otherwords, a set of four of these small plastic caps would cost me about one third of the price that I paid for the whole ladder. Fortunately I was able to glue the the cap back together but on refitting it, I discovered that the screw which apparantly held it onto the ladder did not penetrate the metal, is simply went into the plastic at an angle, wedging it away from the foot. Small wonder it fell off.On checking the other side I found that to be the same. So I drilled appropriate holes in the bottom of the ladder legs and screwed the feet back on correctly. Similarly, the plastic tray at the top of the ladder ( great asset by the way) was supplied with a screw and instructions on how to secure it but there was no correspnding hole in the frame into which to screw it. Again, I drilled an appropriate hole but soon found that one small scew was not a secure way of fitting the tray. Once fitted, it is quite reasonable to grab hold of the tray when climbing up to the higher steps. Because the tray is not a good fit on the ladder anyway, the single screw is totally inadequate to secure the tray in place whilst taking the weight of a climber. If the tray is regularly fitted to the ladder, I recommend drilling at least two more holes into the tray and top of the metal to secure with extra screws. In view of the above, I was going to dock two stars from my original five, but as (at this stage) the steps do in all otherways seem great, I have only knocked it down to four

Excellent company to deal with
As I got a 4 step steps these wasn’t high enough for the jobs I needed to do , so I thought this is good value for money and was taken by the handrails for safety and the tools holder at the top , unfortunately the tools holder arrived broken and there was only one handrail, the broken tool holder I think may have been done in transit, but maybe it’s just a manufacturing fault they didn’t pack it with another handrail , but I must say I couldn’t fault abbey access ltd for their after sales department, absolutely excellent, as soon as I sent. A message they messaged back straight away , I didn’t have a printer to print out a return label so they sent me one in the post , they arrange for collection of the item , they asked when I was available for collection, I had given them a day , 2 days later it was collected, I was so happy with this company that I didn’t hesitate so I ordered another set steps , different make through the same company, please don’t let this put you off ordering from abbey access ltd , because of the first steps that was faulty, the next steps I ordered are great and will do a review on them too , so all In all very helpful, friendly, polite , and nothing was too much trouble, they are amazing
