I used a thin coating of mineral oil. The new one fits better than the original in that it does not rotate.

Hand grip great replacement
Hubby's walker right handgrip broke after 1 year -- it was never tight like the left handgrip. I think this is a bit expensive (hence the 4 stars instead of 5), but it went on easy and stays in place.
