The long life battery is perfect
They say the battery lasts a year, mine has just died after 18months and it was very cheap to replace. Not having to take it off to charge it every few days made this the best fitness tracker for me by far. As its waterproof too, I've only ever taken it off for airport security and its been brilliant. Sleep tracker is pretty accurate. As is the step counter with the exception that it does count steps if you're travelling in a bumpy vehicle, but I found that to be the case with other brands too. For the first six months I used it only as a watch and step counter and it did that brilliantly. After that I've started playing with some of the other features including the period cycle. It does take a couple of tries to remember how all the buttons cycle through, but it's fairly intuitive and you can customise your display via the app which is great. Overall I've tried 3 other fitness bands in the past decade and this is head and shoulder my favourite, mainly for the battery life. (and you can light up the screen if you need to read the time in the dark)

Did not work
Ok, the headline maybe doesnt match the star rating. The Vivofit 4 was purchased in November for as a Christmas presant for my daughter, Only a week ago she decided to take the item out of the box to wear it but ikt didn't work. Followed all advice on Amazon and I was pretty sure it was a battery issue. Contacted seller who said to return item but before I did I purchased a couple of batteries to try and 'self help'. Sadly the Vivofit would not complete the set up and would stop half way as in the photo. I sent the item back and got a full refund the day afyer they had received it. Disappointed it did not work but I find customer service in these eventualities just as important. Would have no issue buying from the issuing company again.

Vivofit 4
What I like with these activity trackers is that the battery lasts for months and it doesn't need charging every few days. I previously had version 3 for many years which died so this is a great replacement. I only need basic functions so it's ideal. The app works well and by keeping with the vivofit range all my data is in one place.

Used as a pedometer NOW UPDATED REPORT
Used as a pedometer only really. I record steps, distance covered and calories expended. It certainly cannot tell when I am asleep. It can be configured to use imperial measurements which is helpful to me. I wish I could change or disable the sound alerts it produces. There are several of these a day and they are a very high pitched sound that completely freaks out cats. Most of the time I dont know what its trying to tell me anyway. Sometimes I have met or exceeded a goal apparently. Considering I have set no goals this is a bit puzzling. NEW : After 6 months usage (Dec 18 to June 19) This device has let me down badly. I have used it in tandem with a pedometer 3D FitBud. Yesterday the Vivifit recorded 500 steps against the 3D's 1,400 steps! The 3D is recording more accurately. It is woefully unreliable and seriously misleading. The time (clock) keeps going adrift. Every time its synchs it seems to correct the time, then loses it again. Never use it as a watch. I have dropped the rating from 4 stars to 1 star now.UPDATE: March 2020. the wristband needed replacing (3rd party item: Garmin product not available) within a year. batteries replaced twice within 15 months. The Vivofit 4 finally irreparably malfunctioned shortly after the 2nd battery replacement. So it lasted 15 months in total.

A step backwards
I'm a big fan of Garmin. I've owned Vivofits 2 and 3. So when my 3 broke, it seemed the obvious thing to get the 4. Except no. They have changed it. It is still a good basic tracker - does steps, sleep and it still has "the red line of doom" to alert you to the fact that you need to move. BUT they have replaced the heart rate monitor with a ridiculous weather widgit and you can put in a motivational slogan - which is hard to read. So if you are looking for something just to track steps. It is fine. If you are looking to track your fitness and health, look elsewhere.PROS -: you don't have to take it off. 1 year battery: waterproof so you can swim and shower: looks like a normal sleek watchCONS:: no heart rate monitor anymore: doesn't recognise moderate vs vigorous exercise: its registering of moderate activity is odd. It won't recognise running but it will recognise me fanning myself: had problems with it needing to be reset multiple times and not working and it is only 6 months old

Love it.
Very easy to use if your looking for simplicity and wanting to keep tabs on your daily steps which was the main reason I chose it. There are other options if required for the more adventurous. The only problem I have is trying to see the screen being as small as it is. It was a great price and well worth the money. I'm

Not 100% accurate
Counts steps fine but also counts when I'm cycling :/ so you have to account for those phantom steps. Also I have smallish wrists and medium size barely fits, so check the sizing before buying.
