My first refret made easy
I hesitated because of the price, but wow, this saved time and tape! To protect the fretboard during leveling, crowning and polishing, this shield was great. It fit my 25.5" board exactly. The jumbo frets just barely go through the slots; so perfect that the shield stays in place even without the retaining bands (but I used them anyway).I did first tape up the headstock and back of the neck to keep them clean; that tape stayed on for the duration. Unlike taping the fretboard itself, I could remove the shield and replace it during the process, for checking and cleaning metal dust. Nice, for a rookie. It stood up to sanding with 400 and up without serious wear; so it'll be there for my other two 25.5" refrets. I tend to buy inexpensive guitars and then upgrade them, e.g. to stainless steel frets. The shield is somewhat delicate at the body end, but it came in a box and sleeve that can protect it while stored (it also has a peg hole to hang it). Now I'm going to buy the 24.75" shield to do another guitar!

Saved so much time
I’m gonna need to buy these in other scale lengths now. I bought one and it made leveling and dressing so much faster.

Great tool, but be conscious of wide frets, or different spacing standards.
Pays for itself in tape and time after a few uses. Definitely worth having, even for maintaining just one guitar. What worked for me :Fender : Worked on multiple Mexican/American strats no problem, along with my friends Squier Strat.Godin : Worked with my LGX-SAIbanez : Was also able to use on multiple Ibanez from various eras (from '87 to 2022) with caveats. What didn't work or took coaxing :Fender : Showmaster had to be done in sections (Korean, not the custom shop, so that could just be manufacturing...). It seems like these guitars may be shy of the originally advertised 25.5" scale though...Ibanez : This was tougher to use on the Ibanez guitars with wider frets. Two of my J-crafts ('05 RG/'08 SV) and my '87 sabre have pretty wide frets. It kind of sat on the frets and not the fingerboard in some cases. Not unusable, but if you're guitar has super-duper-ultra-wide-jumbo frets (ala modern Schecter), this tool might not be effective for you based on its slot width. All of my other guitars are different scales, so that's all I can say.

Amazon review, the product itself is great
Ordered this 4x from Amazon and it came bent every time. I had to order it straight from Music Nomad and pay the shipping. Came packaged well from them. Great product my boyfriend uses it all the time for his luthier work and says it’s a lifesaver.

Too big for thinner frets
When using this for anything other than the biggest frets, the slots are too wide and you end up getting crap on the fretboard anyway. Went back to tape.
