This LIDAR is a magic for what it does for the price.
After thoroughly reading the manual and connecting the white Rx wire from the LIDARr to the Rx pin of the converter card, I could quickly see the cloud of points in the application you can download from the supplier site. And also by a COM Port monitor application.Pay attention to the baud rate, which is 230400.Finally, I am pleased with the product and recommend it to anybody who wants to try this technology and get into the field of robotics with a small investment of money but large reward of performance, build quality, and even service.

Great quality, great price, but some difficulty with Arduino Uno
I recently purchased the WayPonDEV LD14P 2D 360 Degree Lidar and I'm generally very happy with it. The quality is great and the price is very reasonable. I'm still trying to get it to work with my Arduino Uno R3, but I'm confident that I'll be able to figure it out.So far, I've been able to get the lidar to output data to my computer using the UART communication protocol. I've also been able to get it to scan and output data in real time. However, I'm still having trouble getting it to work with my Arduino Uno R3.I've tried using a variety of libraries and tutorials, but I haven't been able to get the lidar to output any data to the Arduino. I'm starting to think that the Arduino Uno R3 may not be powerful enough to handle the lidar's data output.I'm going to try using an Arduino Mega next, which is a more powerful board. If that doesn't work, I'll try using a different microcontroller, such as a Raspberry Pi.Overall, I'm very happy with the WayPonDEV LD14P 2D 360 Degree Lidar. It's a great product for the price, and I'm confident that I'll be able to get it to work with my Arduino. If anyone has any tips on how to get the WayPonDEV LD14P 2D 360 Degree Lidar to work with an Arduino Uno R3, please comment below. I would really appreciate it! (4 Stars for that, might update later)

It's a LiDar module. Don't expect 8 meter range
Priced a bit steep for being a portable tape deck motor and some $15 worth of components, but it technically does work--just nowhere near 8 meters. I've managed at best about 60-70 cm (about 2 ft). If you ignore the very lofty claim about the distance and the who knows how many dozens of time over cost these are being sold, you know, it's a LiDar.

If Arduino doesn't want to talk to it
To answer someone's query regarding interfacing with Arduino uno... You might need to use pullup or pulldown resistors on the communication line, depending on the circuits overall properties.Arduinos are known to require impedance adjustments to establish communication.

Bit of a user error, but overall result was very impressive!
We used this one for our RC/XXLhovercraft build (coming to ytube soon!) and boy have we happy with how nice it turned out having this one set up! - Took me some (a ton of) patience to figure out the right way to make use of this (and more than half of that was wrapping my mind around the logistics of using Lidar to start with), but we are now seeing awesome results with it serving as the heart of an assisted stop algorithm that we are working on for when this detects objects within its own range/stretch of view above a given rate of motion (currently using the pi platform) - Lots of documentation and information included, but understanding the process in terms of integration is your own game! - 9.8/10 would definitely get this again!

Good documentation
I haven't gotten around to fully implementing the LiDAR scanner yet but the documentation is really, really impressive. There's a QR code you can and everything is there. The first major struggle is wiring up the dupont cable but the manual covers the pinout.
