Q: What happens if you machine wash it on delicate cycle? No one wants to hand wash a blanket!

I definitely have just thrown it in the wash and dryer a few times and it’s held up just fine..it really is great quality for the price.

Q: Why would it not be designed as a complete pull over? It looks ridiculous open at the back like that and half of your body is exposed.

I totally agree, I have an 83 year old grandmother and am looking for a fully enclosed wrap around blanket or one you can zip up with a hood on it, during the winter months so she can wear while we are outdoors around the fire pit talking with family in the evenings; and it is getting cold for her so she can visit with the family and does not have to go home & be alone.

Q: would you recommend using fabric softener with this when washing?

When I washed before using I did use fabric softener but if your softener is concentrated I would suggest diluting with some water because item is so large. I cannot imagine how much static would be in blanket if nothing was used. Hope this is helpful.

Q: does it go up 2 sizes 4x 5x wanted to get it for a chritmas gift for my granny?

It's a great gift that will fit anybody, unless your granny is 8ft tall and weighs 350 lbs, lol.
