Open the cage via the clipped section on top to remove the glass to fit the bulb...
"Read the instructions" alludes the label stapled to the cage.... that'll be the non-existent instructions that don't come with the unit. Don't expect instructions or a manual on Brennenstuhl's website: I looked, there aren't any.So to avoid what I and several others here have also commented... unclip the top of the cage to remove the glass globe to fit the bulb. Another kind Amazon reviewer gave that advice (Dougal Melrose, thank you). It's not immediately obvious as you might be tempted to unscrew the cage after trying to remove the lock screw. Besides, it's more a glass jam jar than a globe. Have five minutes of your life back!Otherwise.... it's an inspection light. No switch, but it's fairly cheap and rugged and if the glass breaks I'm sure it'll still be fine for many uses. It doesn't have a moulded splashproof plug so you'll need to take that into account if you're intending to use it outside.
