Gorgeous Hunza apricots.
I used to be able to buy Hunza apricots in my local supermarket, but not so much any more. So, I was very pleased to be able to get hold of some through Amazon. When soaked and well-rehydrated, they are honey-sweet and make their own syrup when cooked in water - don't add sugar to the cooking liquid, it is quite unnecessary.

The best apricots
Hunza Apricots are grown in the Hunza Valley in Pakistan. They are the Apricot of Apricots and believed to be the original apricot from which all other varieties are derived. They are sold dried. They are small and look like Toffos - that wonderful sweet toffee some of us used to eat when we were children. They are raw but you can eat them like that. They are best soaked in water overnight and then poached in water and with some sweetener such as sugar, maple syrup, or honey. Then serve with cream or yoghurt. If you take the stones out, then try them whizzed up into a puree to stir into cream or yoghurt. Delicious and nutritious. Did I say I like them? Haha.

Delicious and fun to grow from a stone.
When I can find hunzas, I always stock up as they are the most magical dried fruit in the world. I have been eating them for years as, when soaked and gently cooked with a bit of water, they make the sweetest, most unctuous compote with no sugar needed at all. I have also grown the stones and have some elegant and unusual hunza trees which are (so far) very hardy and flower beautifully in the spring - no fruits yet but one day, when the conditions are right - perhaps. These are my favourite fruit and am delighted when I find them available.

Great sugar free pudding!
I was so pleased to find these available on line as it’s been a long time since I’ve used them.I soak them for several hours until soft enough to pop the stones out, then cook them in water slowly on the hob until most of the water is gone, leaving a lovely syrupy sauce. No added sugar, but enjoyed warm and sweet with a dollop of plain full fat yoghurt.

Sold underweight
Paid for 1kg but got 858g. The bag was damaged but not the Amazon box it came in. This means the bag was packaged already damaged. I contacted seller but I had no reply. Won’t use them againProduct is great, shame about the lack of customer care

Less flavour than the darker variety
These hunza apricots are nice but lack the rich caramel flavour of the darker brown type. Perhaps these are a different variety. I soak them overnight in a little water and top with Greek yoghurt. No need to sweeten. This paler version does not produce the lovely rich syrup of the darker ones

Need to be soaked or cooked
An excellent product. Once soaked they become sweet and juicy. I eat them either as a snack or as a desert with yogurt. Hunza apricots are extremely nutritious.
