Even better than the original
I totally agree with the other five star reviews here, this film is just so entertaining for kids and adults alike. Watched it over Christmas with the family (and several times since then), and as an in-law said, you could put this on repeat play and the family would just sit there and watch it over and over again. It's a film that just makes you laugh and feel so good. Is there any better sort? The plot in short is that Gru gets recruited, somewhat reluctantly, into working with the Anti Villain League to help with a series of unsolved crimes. Along the way we are introduced to several new characters, notably El Macho, a mad 'guard chicken' and Lucy Wilde, the AVL agent assigned to work with Gru. I really like the way that Gru's and the three girls' characters have been developed since the last movie (Margo has her first crush!) and clearly much thought has been given with this. It certainly works. For once, a sequel that is even better than the original, and bravo to the guys at Illumination Entertainment who have proved beyond doubt that they are not simply cynically exploiting the success of the earlier film. Roll on Despicable Me 3!

Top-notch sequel
For me personally, I feel this is one of the few sequels which don't disappoint at all.I could write a long review about all the things I find brilliant about that movie. But I'm sure there are already hundreds of good reviews doing that. So I'll just say: if you like computer-animated comedies, you'll love this. Get it. (If you can display 3D, even better, movies like this are made for it.)One of the telling aspects of a great animated film is the LIGHT. And DM2 has it in spades.By the way, I think they make a little mistake by featuring basically only the Minions on covers and such. I feared that the other characters, for example the girls, would take a secondary place to them. Fortunately this is not true, it has a full character gallery, all used well. One of the best new characters is Lucy Wilde, agent of the Anti-Villain League. This adorable redhead is a mess of delightful contradictions: She is bubbly, inventive, tough and super-resourceful, a bit bashful, clumsy, slightly sadistic and yet loving, and a martial-arts master.

Despicable ??
Well, just the title is,this time around.Gru and his minions are recruited to identify and possibly capture a VILLAIN.Yep,it's true. Not very despicable I know but this new villain certainly is.The involvement of the three girls is good too as we see them acting out different roles as part of a family this time.Family is also the new theme.I have to laugh at the memory of how a minion was captured with an ice lolly. The film is very funny and has to be watched at least twice to catch all the good stuff.I ended up re watching the first one too to remind myself of what happened before and how the characters have changed.I was particularly interested in the evolution of the girls and how they used to be and sound. The extras are good and fuelled my curiosity enough to fish out the original movie. The little one's 'zombie' rendition of a Mother's tribute comes to fruition in the end.Margo's reaction to a 'cute' boy was well animated,I thought and the etiquette of wishing wells is visited too. Some really great stuff.I am beginning to question Gru's dog's credentials though.

it's all about the Minions!
I loved this movie first time, at the cinema and so far I'm not tiring of seeing it again and again...mainly thanks to the Minions. I think I prefer this to the first film but I guess that's personal choice.I'd say this film is funnier but as mentioned above this is due in large part to the fact the Minions seems to have more screen time. Gru is Gru however he obviously starts this film where he left the last one and so he is no longer looking for his next dastardly plan, leading to world domination. That said, he's no angel still and his attitude is enough to make me laugh alone. The 3 girls are in the film, as they were the first, and they too are really good characters but it's all about the Minions for me. A great film I could watch time and again.

Brilliant...... Must See
Brilliant film. I loved Despicable Me and this is just as good, even better in 3D. If you enjoyed Despicable Me you'll love this. If you haven't seen Despicable Me then you must see it. It's not the type of film I usually enjoy and I wasn't too keen to see it but I'm so glad I did and I've fallen in love with the minions. My partner didn't want to watch it either, but has also fallen in love with the minions. The secret to the success of these movies is that they appeal as much to adults as they do to children. They are NOT children's movies, adults can watch and enjoy them without kids, perfect.

Good family viewing
Brilliant DVD, even better than the first and 'laugh out loud funny' in parts. Bought it for my grandson's 3rd birthday and we both enjoyed it very much. The LO finds parts of it quite scary so I wouldn't let him watch it on his own, but he loves to see the good guys win and sort out the bad man, this is very reassuring for him and helps him to deal with other 'scary' aspects of life. Despite the 'fear' factor anything with minions in is currently his first choice for viewing and he demands to 'watch it again' as soon as it's finished.
