Product Description The biggest TV phenomenon of last year is back with a bite. Welcome back to Bon Temps, home to mystery, Southern sensuality and dark secrets. For Sookie Stackhouse, life is more dangerous than ever after she and Bill become more deeply involved. Meanwhile, Tara finds herself under a lover’s spell. Sam puts his trust in an unlikely ally. Jason becomes involved with an anti-vampire sect. Eric becomes interested in Sookie after he recruits her to investigate the disappearance of his 2,000-year-old maker. And Maryann is revealed to possess a power that can control almost everyone in town. Then, after making a shocking discovery, Sookie, Bill and Sam must form the last line of defense against a diabolical plan that raises this award-winning series to bloody new heights. Clothes fall to the floor almost as often as blood spatters the walls in this show that blends supernatural horror, sex, and mystery, with just a little bit of social commentary thrown in for good measure. .co.uk Review A show that continues to get better and better, True Blood recovered quickly from a divisive first episode or two to evolve into one of the best television series currently running in the US. Season two? It’s gone and made it even better. The series as a whole is based on the Southern Vampire Mysteries novels by Charlaine Harris, but they’ve been weaved into television gold by Alan Ball. Ball, previously responsible for Six Feet Under, sets True Blood in a world where vampires are gradually becoming more and more accepted. Living side by side with humans, it’s inevitably not the easiest of worlds, but the scenario offers enough threads for some riveting viewing. Season two of True Blood in particular is superb. It blends together the blood, sex and mystery that made the show so popular in the first place, but also moves the collection of characters into even more dangerous and edgy situations. Plus, there’s the small matter of an underlying narrative that builds to a terrific finish. To say much more would be to spoil things, and True Blood is one show that absolutely shouldn’t be spoiled. Instead, it should be savoured, and with that in mind, this terrific second season boxset is a genuine must. --Jon Foster

The second season of True Blood is even better!
Season 2 of True Blood is an improvement, both for the show and for the DVD contents.Special Features list:True Blood Season 2 Disc 1- Audio Commentaries:Episode 2 - Nelsan Ellis and Michael Lehmann - **** Unquestionably, Nelsan is an amazing actor, and it is very interesting to get his point of view. During this commentary we get a great insight to the relationship between Lafayette and Eric, and how Nelsan acted out the dungeon scenes.True Blood Season 2 Disc 2NoneTrue Blood Season 2 Disc 3- Audio Commentaries:Episode 7 - Raelle Tucker and Michael Ruscio - **** Enjoyable commentary throughout. Raelle and Michael make a very good commentating couple.True Blood Season 2 Disc 4- Audio Commentaries:Episode 8 - Stephen Moyer, Alexander Skarsgard and John Dahl - ***** By far the best commentary, in my opinion. Alexander and Stephen make a very funny commentating couple and I am looking forward to more commentaries from these two together! John Dahl complements them perfectly.Episode 10 - Ryan Kwanten and Sam Trammell - **** First time for me listening to Ryan's real accent, quite a surprise. Ryan and Sam do a great job together.True Blood Season 2 Disc 5- The Fellowship of the Sun: Reflections of Light. (Rev. S. Newlin and his wife share their views on marriage, eternal life and more)- The vampire report: special edition- Audio Commentaries:Episode 11 - Rutina Wesley, Alan Ball and Daniel Minahan - **** It is always a pleasure to hear Alan's commentary. Loved the insight on the scenes with Tara and her mother.Episode 12 - Anna Paquin and Michelle Forbes - ***** So much fun listening to these two ladies!Episode 12 - Alexander Woo and Michael Cuesta - **** Enjoyable commentary from Alexander and Michael.I loved that, for episode 12, we have two separate commentary files. Generally, I find myself enjoying more the commentary when there are two actors together or the writer and director together. (Or, of course, Alan Ball. I always enjoy listening to his comments!) Having two separate audio files is a great way to give us a taste of both points of view.

A true improvement
Much, much better than season one.I think I mentioned in my review of season one that I'd watched an episode a night and found it a bit samey. Well, I did the same again this time and actually watched two a night sometimes, with a real desire to know what happened - it really was pretty gripping. All the characters seem to have settled down now; Sookie was much less bouncy and naive, Bill was more real somehow - he showed a proper range of emotions and some humour which was good, Eric gave a real sense of danger and power rather than merely posing at the club and even Tara was less annoying. The character of Maryann was expanded a lot over the season and she was great as the evil in the town. I also liked the new character of Jessica and liked the way her story unfolded. I was going to say there were far fewer gratuitous sex scenes, but instead there were mini orgies taking place most episodes, but it did fit with the storyline rather than being there for the sake of it!I must just say thank goodness they've sorted everyone's hair out! I thought Bill's hair was awful in season one and he now looks 100% better, as does Eric who has lost the Worzel Gummidge bob and is now gorgeous. The fangs are also better; at least the actors can speak properly with them in!On the whole, a huge improvement on season one, pretty compelling viewing and I'm really looking forward to season three.

"There are centuries of faith and love between us."
This season is much better than the first one and I really enjoyed it although it is not so close to the original story.Season 2 is partly based on the second installment "Living Dead in Dallas" of the Sookie Stackhouse/Southern Vampires novels by Charlaine Harris. As I'm a great fan of the Sookie novels I was really happy to hear that they were going on screen. As mentioned earlier there are quite some deviations from the original plot but I believe that is more a benefit to the readers as you don't know exactly what will happen next. The cast is wonderful and there are also fantastic side characters which do not play such a large role in the books. For example, the charas Sarah and Steve Newlin (Fellowship of the Sun) were a huge highlight to me. I really had a great laugh here.Again as in the first season my personal highlight is Alexander Skarsgard as Eric Northman and I was really glad that in this season he had a larger role. I just wish there would be a little bit more Pam as she is next to Eric my favourite character throughout the books but maybe this is something to look forward to for the upcoming seasons?Another fantastic plot was the one about Godric (i. e. Eric's maker), esp. the episode "I will rise up" is an absolute highlight and has its very special emotional moments. This TV portrait of Eric's maker is much nicer as the book version (Appius Livius Ocella). One negative aspect to me was the whole maenad plot. However the actress who played this role of Maryann Forrester was absolutely great but I simply found it too much, it just could have been a little shorter. All in all this season has much more great moments than the first one and is absolutely worth a five star rating to me. I cannot wait for season 3 to come.
