Glue everywhere
The top is about 1mm thick veneer, and there are several places where the glue adhering the top had seeped out. Between scraping and light sanding to remove the glue, the top has become too thin in places to completely saturate with stain, and creates a splotchy, unprofessional look. Waste of money, buy a body and a neck from someone you can trust to at least clean up their work.

Fantastic DIY guitar kit
I bought this fantastic DIY guitar as a gift for my friend. We are very happy with what we received. The guitar is made in wood, looks very high quality. The materials has been treated well so it feels very smooth. All the parts including strings, tuning pegs etc also feels very sturdy and reliable. The guitar came with a detailed assemble guide. Even we are the beginner to the DIY guitar kit, it’s easy for us to follow the guide to make it work. The step-by-step guide work through every stage, from assembling the body to installing the parts. The whole process is very straightforward.

Look else where if you plan to actually play this guitar and not use it as a project.
The guitar was easy to put together. I know people are complaining about this kit as well as many others not coming with instructions, but if you have played a guitar you should know the basics and a simple Google / Youtube query will get you all the info you need on sanding grit / wood glue / wiring diagrams / etc. As you can see in the pictures it stains well. With that said my issue is the placement of the post holes. If you want a project guitar to hang on the wall then this is for you. If you already know that the hardware is low level and that you will be replacing it all with good tuners / pickups / bridge / pots then this is where you get bit. After putting it together and adjusting the bridge height / intonation I found that with the saddles all the way back the strings are still sharp. So the post holes are not in the proper place. So time to order the better bridge and hope that will fix the issue, WRONG. taking measurements I found that the posts are 62mm apart with the saddle spacing at just under 54mm. Good luck finding a bridge to fit. Standard 54mm or 52.5mm saddle spacing comes with 54-56mm post spacing. Way short of the 62mm that this company made. And that is the issue. Now you are stuck plugging the holes and re-drilling and maybe even routing out the body more. Spent way to many hours looking for a 2 post bridge with no luck, so this guitar that i bought to make for my grandchild will be a hang on the wall conversation piece. On a side note for anyone building a kit guitar. Expect to drop 500-800 in hardware. If the kit is good, what they give you is a coloring / finishing that you want and the satisfaction that you made it. So a kit guitar is not a cheap build. I had a ball putting it together, shame it is not fully playable.

Incredibly thin maple top. Updated.
See update below. The maple veneer is so 000.00thin that after I stained it the grain from the walnut body showed through it. It looked terrible. After alot of trying to "fix" the problem I ended up sanding it down to the walnut and finished it that way instead. The neck is pretty good. The tuners will need replaced. The pickups are actually better than I expected. But I might still upgrade them if I can find a good deal on a used set. Over all the experience was not good just because of the disappointment with the curly maple top. The final product is playable and looks decent. But it isn't what I expected.Update: After reviewing, the vendor has sent a replacement guitar. The body looks nicer on this one. I will add a photo when completed.
