A versatile product, which is easy to apply and gives an attractive satin finish.
I was recommended this product by a friend who renovates lots of furniture.Although she uses a matt version, I wanted a satin finish to give a more durable finish to a shoe cupboard and a pine dressing table stool which I had just finished painting in Rust-Oleum chalk paint, so that is what I ordered. It gives a lovely sheen to the paint and is great for regularly used items which need to have a more durable finish. As I was covering chalk paint, I followed the recommendations for some water to be added for the first coat, if the surface being painted was porous. Then I added a following coat without water added.I used a foam roller to apply this and it went on beautifully, went a long way and dried quickly meaning another coat can be added without having to wait hours on end.Rollers and brushes can be washed in the sink quickly and easily as it is a water based product. After reading the reviews, I see that it can be used to coat wallpaper, so I plan to buy the matt version to protect my Laura Ashley wallpaper in my bathroom.I’d highly recommend this versatile product, which is easy to apply and gives an attractive satin finish.

Apply this poly over Annie Sloan old white chalk paint
I wanted to put a durable matt finish on a farmhouse dining table I painted in Annie Slaon old white and cottage country chalk paint. After buying Annie wax, I searched a lot and found Annie wax is not as durable as poly finish specially for anything in the kitchen, the stains cant be wiped after a while. Using poly; people complaining about the poly finish will yellow immediately or over time, doesnt matter which brand and type is used. After a lot of reading I chose this Annie has a expensive poly as well which I compared to this product and the nature of chemicals and instructions were very similar. So thought this must be very close. I stuck to instructions and some youtube tips on how to prevent yellowing; applied this peoduct 3 weeks ago. To this date it hasnt yellow at all it just draken very subtle. The most important thing is to apply it super thin coats and if some spots missed, dont go back over them/ over play with it. Poly is reacting easily specially with white chalk paint; yellow it or remove it. So need to be very quick and thin coats. I did 2 gloss( for more durability) and 3 dead flat on top. This way it turned out a bit shinier than dead flat only. The finish feels very close to Annie wax and is not as plastic feeling as other scewfix poly I used on banisters. I cant comment on durability and scratch resistancy as just left it to fully cure and havent used it yet. In the picture; the table top has a bit warm tone is due to previous oak stain is not 100% removed.

Always dependable
I have used polyvine products before, so buying this was an easy choice. It is easy to use and if you follow the instructions on the bottle you will get good results. It was used to coat some decoupage tissue paper and worked well.

Easy to use for protection and waterproofing
Easy to use product. Used on painted kitchen cabinets and it provided protection and good waterproofing. It didn’t yellow but it did change the tone of the chalk white paint slightly.

Sealed bare new plaster with this.
I wanted it to retain the mottled look and not paint it but wanted a slight sheen. It looks lovely. It has darkened the colour just a tiny bit but I like that. In case you're wondering, I've made a little study or den for me with bookshelves and a writing bureau and my pc and printer - somewhere that I can tackle paperwork rather than cluttering up the kitchen or sitting-room. It is not quite water-proof as in the single-skin outer wall rain (driving rain) has made wet patches. I will try to put more of the stuff on ( with or without damp seal - not sure yet as need to research what to do) when it is dry again. But it is easy to use and much better than the waxing it- idea that I was initially contemplating. No smell, no residue, easy to clean the brush and really totally marvelous, though a bit pricey.

Excellent
Been buying this for years, in different finishes.Easy to use. Thin, so goes a long way.I use this for multiple applications. Mostly, to protect paintwork. You can use a quality vinyl to paint anything, just pop one or two coats of this on top to add extra toughness and protection against marks. Also great for raw wood and coating wall art.Try a little on your paint. It's no good on cheap/absorbent paints. For example, do NOT use it on standard Dulux Vinyl, DO use it on Dulux Easycare. Absorbent paints absorb too much and then take a very long time to dry, and may result in a patchy appearance.Highly recommended.
