Hi Jon, thanks for your question! The box weight of 10lbs is an average weight. Every piece of wood has a different weight due to the variation in moisture and density. Density can vary depending on the growth environment of the tree and whether a piece has come from the branch or trunk. As a result, we can’t get exactly the same weight for every box but we do ensure every box is filled as much as possible. Many thanks
