Great - if you read the instructions
If you read the reviews here it is confusing to know if this product is good or not, but it is a very good product at a good price. The reason people have problems with this adhesive I believe is because they don't read the box instructions - which are confusing. Here are some pointers:A. 1 1/2 ounces of product per gallon is for sizing a wall only - you need to look at the chart to see how much you need to mix to hang wallpaper.B. You need to fill a container with the amount of water you need and gradually add the powder while stirring to get this to mix properly, it will still be a little lumpy, but the lumps will brush out when you apply the adhesive to the paper.C. You should prep the walls before you wallpaper with a wallpaper primer - I used Shieldz which was great for putting vinyl wallpaper over vinyl.Bottom line this is a great value if you use it right. This cost half of what I paid for premixed paste and it does 8 double rolls instead of 1, you can mix what you need and store the rest (which is a powder), and you can store premixed paste in an airtight container.

Great bang for the buck - research your recipe!
Many complain that this is lumpy, but if you research reviews, there are plenty that describe how to use the powder successfully. I did not know how much I would need to paper one wall - and everyone's paper and amount of wall surface area is different. Things that I learned from reviews: start with WATER and to it add powder; use a BOWL and a WHISK to mix; allow it to SIT; and be ready to STRAIN out any remaining lumps. Ok, no problem. I just did math: if the box was to be added to a gallon.... I poured the powder into a big pyrex measuring pitcher (just over 2 cups) and then made my calculations from there. If you only want a quart of paste, then divide the powder by 4 and there you are! Start with water, quickly stir water with whisk while slowly adding powder, mixed, let sit 10-15 minutes, used my screen strainer I have for washing fruit to get the lumps out (there weren't many), and poured into my paint tray to roll onto the wall. Done. Easy cleanup - just rinse everything with water.

MY FAVORITE WALL SIZE AND ADHESIVE BY FAR!
I hang wallpaper professionally, and I never use anything else. This can be mixed thin to apply as a wall size, and then thicker for adhesive on unpasted paper. It rolls on like velvet, with a clean, light texture and excellent slippage for hanging. I've used more expensive liquid versions, which are like working with Elmer's glue and HORRIBLE for positioning and adjusting! Be sure to use a whisk and stir in slowly, and you'll get great results!!

Get the ratio right and stir it up!
I bought this because of the price and the small amount I needed to put nonwoven paper behind our bed. I've never done a job like this before but here are a few tips: get the mix ratio correct at the beginning! If you don't mix in the right amount at the start, throw out the batch and start over...don't try to add more dry mix latet. I used 1/2gal of cold water and 1.5 oz of powder.Stir aggressively when mixing! Stir and let sit to thicken for ten minutes.Strain through a sieve or paint strainer to remove clumps.Apply heavily with a 3/8" nap roller. Squeegee/sweep out excess after applying the paper.I love that it goes on and dries clear, cleans up easily with water and has no odor. Clean up with warm water. Dries quickly.

Horrible
I ordered this to use at sizing. Went on normal although I thought a little thinner than what I remember sizing to be even though I followed directions explicited. Let the sizing dry for 24 hours. Used as paste/adhesive the following day. Within 10 minutes - wallpaper fell off wall. Again, mixed explicitly as directions stated. Which was the same as for sizing.Ended up having to go to Lowes and by paste, which worked beautifully. What a waste of money, time and energy using "Suregrip" - what a joke they name it that. Never again.

worked perfect as always
This is a really good wallpaper adhesive. I have used it sucessfully for years. Just a few tips for newbies. Use a wire whip to mix. Mix the day before and allow it to sit overnight in a covered bowl( don't use a bucket the dry mix sticks in the corners) the next day the paste will be super smooth. I add water as needed to keep it the consitancy of a thin mayonaise and always add a little white school glue for better and longer adhesion. Do not do this if you plan to take the paper down when you move. I have never had a problem with loose paper or peeling paper. I smooth with a damp rag and the paper comes out smooth every time. In short use your head.I used this in my bathroom and the paper is still tight and smooth after a year. Another small idea. for damp areas actually put this clue on the outside of the paper as well and wipe with a damp rag. It seals the paper and there is no discoloration.

i doubt they put the wrong mix proportion
I seriously doubt they put down the wrong instruction. Because following their instruction of 1-1/2 oz to 1 gallon of water, it is very very watery, not possible to be adhesive to anything. I think they meant to say 1 Litre, which is the case with another power that came with a wall paper I bought. They gave some equal amount of power and asked to be mixed with 1 LITRE water and it came out perfectly sticky. So with the watery one, I would give it 1 star, but I added more power than instructed and it came out a bit more sticky. Not perfect, but a bit better.
