Swordfish 40300 X-Securia 800XC 8 Sheet Cross Cut Paper/Document Shredder, White

This is a good shredder, it is not too loud when shredding and can cope well with most stuff. There is an earlier review that said it had stopped working for a previous purchaser. It may be linked with an experience I had. I use shredder oil every time I empty the bin. I found that if I was too liberal with the oil, the blades could not grip the paper so it seemed as though the shredder wasn’t working. If this happens to you, just persevere until the paper goes through, clearing the excess oil. Once you have done this, it will work fine.

After using this for domestic purposes I have not experienced any issues like some of the other reviewers have given this product. It shreds absolutely fine I wouldn’t recommend for commercial use but for the odd junk mail coming though your door and any sensitive letters which need shredding this is compact and easy to use. So I would recommend this product

Smaller then what I expected, but should have checked the sizes more carefully.Does shred well and eats credit cards nicely.Drawback is bottom bin is too small and constantly needs emptying and when full its difficulty to open the draw as paper blocks it at top. Personally would have been better with a draw that detaches instead of sliding out.Otherwise quality is robust and looks neat and smart.

My broken shredder was exact same but in different make yet was only £29.99 bought from Argos 3,4 years ago. However can't get it anymore! This new one, I've paid £56.62 which near enough twice the amount that to my old one. I thought as time moved on so does the price. However the quality is rubbish, the pull out plastic drawer seems a bit flimsy and both sides aren't straight (see pics), after the drawer was in, there'll be a tiny gap looks like its not being shut properly (see pic). I then pull out the original drawer and put my old drawer into the shredder, it shut perfectly cause my old one's drawer looks a little wider, I am now using the new shredder with my old drawer ( as I mentioned earlier ), it may sounds daft to anyone but I needed a shredder now can't wait for another to arrive, therefore I am keeping it just for sake that I need to use it now. The working mechanism seems ok, my rating is purely based on the working mechanism, not for the quality, if I have more time to look for another one then I would. I only use this shredder for a MAX 3 sheets at a time the most, even though with my old shredder stating up to 10 sheets but I've never tested with that many paper in one go as I know that I need to use a shredder often and don't want to push it to its limit cause no time in finding another one. If you're looking for a sturdy & strong shredder then this is not suitable. For this quality is not worth for I have paid for. (see pics)

Bought this to replace another compact shredder which had come to the end of its lifespan (about 4 1/2 years). This one is definitely quieter, although I don't think it shreds as well as the old one - bigger pieces. Really like that a green button comes on when the operating function is on, and that it has an overheat alert. Also like the white colour and pull-out bin. Down side is that the shreds seems to collect in the teeth, thus perhaps making it more susceptible to jamming, unless you regularly try to clear them out. Overall so far so good.

Works a treat. A drawer collects the shredding. Being white it looks attractive.

Absolutely love this. Compact, easy to use and empty, with pull out draw. Looks good too.

Bought this machine a while ago and used it to shred some doc's, worked fine.Got machine out to use again lasted about 10 mins then real bad smell of burning, thing was only shredded 3 sheets at a time so wasn't stressing it. Not a machine I feel for the long haul.
