Maxpedition Rollypoly Folding Dump Pouch

I was lucky enough to get one of these dump pouches for Christmas ( my partner let me loose with her debit card) . I got it with the intention of always having it on my belt day to day for some extra storage (I hate things poking me in the leg when in jeans pockets). The pouch exterior is made of the usual 1050 ballistic nylon that Maxpedition is famed for, It has been treated with Teflon and a triple polyurethane coat to shrug of water and dirt. To unfold you just pull the tab at the bottom to pull the velcro apart and unfold (I personally dont like this and would have preferred a buckle). the main body of the bag is nylon and fairly strong but will rip if you snag yourself on a thorny bush. You can store a fair bit in the bag(think water bottles and cameras), the drainage grommet in the bottom will allow water through if your drink leaks inside. There is also a draw string at the top to prevent things falling out. overall very nice but I am not a fan of velcro closures as they are noisy and get less grippy over time.

Dump poaches are one of the most versatile belt accessories you can have, whether it's bushcrafting, shooting or hunting.Like most Maxpedition stuff this poach is quite rigged and stiff, using too thick of a material.This means that when folded it sticks out like a stone on your belt, but as a positive it also keeps it's shape unfolded, making it easier to pack and reach into.The stiffness also means that it is a pain to attach any molle strap onto the back of the pouch. The webbing is too narrow and small (not molle standard). Especially on the top 2 stripe where an additional stitching of a useless plastic clip narrows it even more. The bottom 2 spot you can't use at all because it would prevent the pouch to be folded.If you just tie it to your belt using the belt loop, you can only slide while unfolded, for it chokes upon the belt folded up.I also found the 2 tightening cord rather in the way, they don't do much but can get caught into branches because they stand out too much.So to sum it up if you prioritize on overbuilt durability and that alone justifies the steep price for you, it's a safe choice. Also it you only need to attach once and leave it there, most of the cons would be irrelevant.Otherwise the stiffness and the weak design on the back makes it less comfy to regularly attach and detach to your belt and pack... you can get better ones for half the price.

Still using the first one after 3 years of use / abuse but my wife wanted one that coordinated better with the hip-belt on her rucksack. Didn't hesitate to buy the same again...... except a different colour.

Fantastic little dump bag. Added to a Maxpedition Fatboy for a little additional storage and it works perfectly.

Brilliant dump pouch compact when not in use holds s ton of collectables when in use bomb proof wouldn't be without it

Expensive but a very clever and hard wearing piece of kit. Good stitching and good material.UPDATE: Few years later and still showing no signs of wear.

Brilliant quality, only things I wish it came with the Molle straps but still awesome pouch
