Excellent bookshelf
Just as described, or better. Incredibly easy to set up, and is foldable also. Lovely colour, very sturdy shelves, will accept a variety of book sizes. Looks pleasant and airy, but is also strong and functional. I will buy another as my library grows. I am very happy with this purchase.

Disappointed. Poorly made, poor value for money.
I bought and used a Premier Housewares Folding Shelving Unit in 2014 and it has been well used asset for my many books. This more recent purchase cost more than twice the price of the original and fell apart as soon as it was slid out of the box. The unit appears to have been very poorly assembled, screws were loose and/or too small for the holes; the unit just fell apart before it could be assembled. At twice the price of the original I was not prepared to repair and make good the shelf myself and so returned it. Thankfully Amazon arranged the return and the refund promptly.

Simplicity itself to construct. Just open the box!
Brilliant easily put up bookcase Just open the box. Fold down the shelves and within minutes you can fill with booksIt is so easy to use that I ordered a second one the same day. They stack beautifully and are very sturdy and look nice too. My cookery books have never looked so impressive.

Could be more stars, if the dimensions had been right. Different seller.
Could have been an excellent buy, if the dimensions had been as is now stated. (My seller was Beck's - see below - although the email from Amazon stating that the order had been shipped said "item(s) sold by and shipped from Homemakers")I really like this kind of shelving unit/bookcase - easy to put up (You just open up the sides, like doors, and lower the three shelves, which are hinged at the back - but be careful not to let them just fall down - they are pretty solid and could give you quite a whack - best to start from the top, then you'll avoid the possibility of getting whacked if you start with the bottom shelf!), this sturdy and well-constructed solid wood unit is stackable (dowels, etc. provided). It is also easy to put down, fold away, and then move by oneself, and folded it takes up very little space (folded depth 9cm).So, why was I unhappy about my purchase?Well, I had, several years before, bought both three shelf and four shelf units in John Lewis, and had been delighted with them, and being a bibliophile, needed more. January 2011, I saw the three shelf version (ASIN: B00187XPBA) for sale on Amazon, from Amazon seller, Beck's, and put in an order for four. (At £57.90 each that was £231.60)I had assumed, from the picture, that they were the same size as the ones that I had bought in John Lewis (H96, W70, D29.5 cm). No dimensions, apart from weight, were given, and they were described as being `large'. (I have since discovered that the exact same photograph appears on a multitude of sites for different dimensions of the 3-shelf unit!)It chagrins me when I when I come onto this page and see the Amazon reminder telling kindly telling me "You purchased 'this' product on 31 January 2011."Why? Well due to circumstances (I was having some work done in the house), when the shelves arrived, in January 2011, I had to store them away, still in their boxes, and assumed all was well with the order. I didn't get round to taking them out of the boxes to put them up until about eight months later, in August 2011 (too late to make any claim). In my haste, when they had arrived, I had not noticed that the boxes were rather narrower than they should have been.As I said, I had assumed, from the picture, that they were the same size as the ones that I had bought in John Lewis (H96, W70, D29.5 cm). They are, in fact, a titchy H86 x *W38* x D29cm! I subsequently found out, quite a bit later, that there is a set of dimensions printed on the stuck-on photograph of the unit on the front of the boxes which says "W54 x D30 x H87 cm", and on the side of the boxes themself, which would have been printed by the box manufacturer, "Carton dimensions 39.05cm x 9.35cm x 97.79cm". - A 54cm wide object would not have fitted into this box, which is 14cm narrower! - It would seem that the fault lies, for the most part with Premier for putting the wrong label on the box, but someone at the seller's should have tweaked too. It has certainly taught me a lesson... to check orders thoroughly, when they arrive, no matter how busy I am. I wonder if anyone else received the same erroneous order as well.Still, they are sturdy, convenient, and I have put the shelves to good use, just that I'm short by 3 metres 84cm shelf space...Enjoy your new purchase, but do check your order when it arrives.PS: I see that Amazon does stock the H86x 'W39' x D29 cm version, with the ASIN: B001884NCY. The system does not flash up a reminder to say that I had bought that one!

It took 2 deliveries to get one that was perfect, the first had a split shelf. Returning it was a pain in the neck, but eventually we got it sorted and got one that was perfect. The shelf is sturdy, holds a good number of books, and looks quite good. I'd recommend it, but I know I'm not the only one who had to return one. If you're not keen on having to sort a return, it's probably not the shelf for you.

rubber dowels not right
I had several shelves of this design already as they are so practical. You don't need to assemble them, they just hinge out and bob's your uncle. They are strong, capacious, attractive in natural wood and if you need to move house, you can pack them up flat and transport them with ease. The only criticism I have with this particular make, is that the rubber dowels that are included in the packs, (which are meant to fit in holes in the tops and bottoms of the shelves, in order to be able to stack them one on top of the other) were the wrong size. I put one in place on the first shelf I got out, I had to use a hammer to get it to go in the hole as it did not just press in, but the end-grain wood started to split, so I realized it would not be possible to use them. you have to go and get wood doweling to the right size in order to use these shelves as they are meant, which is to be stacked 2 high. A great inconvenience.

They are excellent value strong sturdy and good looking with a lovely light finish. We bought one and then realised we needed another to go on top. Unfortunately the plastic pegs supplied to lock them together do not fit. You have to buy wood doweling and you cannot buy a size to fit the holes, well not in our builder supplies. You need to buy a size bigger and whittle with a Stanley knife. This does not take long as you only need about 6ins. Don't let this put you off they are very good value and looking.

Extremely heavy beware of rubber wood.
I purchased this item as a display stand for craft fairs. It is so heavy that I had to ask for assistance to lift it onto my table. The first time that I used it the bottom shelf cracked even though the weight of items on it was not excessive.I should have returned it but I had not kept the box and it was all too much of a problem.
