Great combination of quality and affordability for a beginner.
This student violin is lovely, high quality, and sounded pretty good right out of the box. My 9 year old son is now in his third month of lessons and we are very happy with our purchase. I feel like this was a great combination of quality and affordability for us. Nice enough to go the distance, but affordable enough to purchase rather than rent. We wanted to purchase to give our son a feeling of commitment to learning it. Our instructor was very impressed with this violin and said she thought it was an excellent choice. The only additional things we've had to purchase are the instruction book and a Kun shoulder rest recommended by the instructor.

Violin won't stay tuned because of improper assembly by the seller/shipper
We were excited to get this violin for my kids' 1st violin for elementary school. It was beautiful and the perfect size for our kid. We learned how to tune it through the internet and through the school. Nothing held for more than a minute or two. The tuning peg holes seem to have been bored out fit the tuning pegs that were unfinished. The tuning pegs should have been tapered down, so after tightening/loosening, the string holds the peg firm to the tuning holes and does not slip. Since the holes were bored out and the tuning pegs are not tapered, the tuning pegs continually slip and cannot stay in tune.As 1st time violin owners, we did not realize all the steps needed to prep a violin for proper assembly and how many steps this particular violin did not undertake. Only after going to a couple music shops in the area to figure out the tuning (wanted a couple of opinions before returning) did we learn all these things that were done incorrectly. None of the music shops were able to keep it tuned, stated why the tuning pegs and holes were ruined, and said it would be nearly as expensive replacing all the parts needed, than to just buy a properly assembled violin. So we have now rented a proper violin to avoid all of this hassle again, and have returned this one from Amazon. If you get one that can stay in tune, great, you won the lottery. Otherwise, you are one of many that tried to save some money and now have an improperly assembled violin.

GREAT BEGINNER'S VIOLIN PACKAGE
No issues from my child's instructor...no issues from my child... Therefore, I am pleased with the purchase and quality of this beginners violin. Its light, it has a nice finish for a child instrument, and the case is VERY nice.Although the description here doesn't mention it, the case can also be worn as a backpack since it comes with the straps to make it do so. The case also comes with a container of Rosin. For this price, its not a bad deal. My child's instructor recommended this brand, out of only a handful. The other brands recommended were much more expensive. So don't think this one is expensive. As far as the many other brands for $49, $99 etc., don't bother...you get what you pay for, and, you'll be sorry.

Wonderful violin
This was the first violin we purchased online. We usually get them at a local shop. But this violin was well crafted and a great buy. The case is fantastic and the bow impeccable. It’s perfect for the young violinist.

I learned my lesson - Buy, don't rent.
Instead of paying $35 per month to rent a violin, I decided to buy one for my youngest daughter when she started orchestra. So far we've been pleasantly surprised with the violin. The orchestra teacher is happy with it and so is my daughter.I had to install the bridge and tune it up out of the box - no big deal, I play guitar and had a Snark clip-on tuner which helped with the latter task.My daughter also appreciates the case which is much lighter than the typical hard cases. If and when she graduates to a full size instrument, I'll buy another and sell this one.My older daughter played Viola for a couple of years and her rented instrument was a piece of crap: the finger board fell off after two weeks, then the scroll broke - M&A tried to tell me that it was a $1,300 dollar instrument - Yeah right. . . It was made in China just like this Stentor

Love it!
I bought this for my third grade daughter. The music teacher did not look down on it. It plays well, comes in a nice case that can be carried by hand or on your back, and includes rosin. The price is great for this beautiful, quality product.

This violin didn't seem to want to make any noise at all let alone musical notes. BUT it looks great. all show and NO go.

Somewhat disappointed
It’s a nice violin, but the tuning pegs are really hard to keep tight enough to tune without slipping. I’ve had to push really hard (I’m a big guy) and I’m afraid of breaking it. It shouldn’t be like this.
