Q: Is the stem length short enough to fit a regular size pipe cleaner through it?

Yes, but not by much. I use 12" pipe cleaners from B.J. Long on mine.

Q: Can I use a 6mm activated charcoal filter with this pipe?

Yes. You can use the 6mm Savinelli Charcoal filter instead of the Balsa filter.

Q: Can the pipe function without filters?

Yes this pipe can function without filters. You would want to use the adapter that comes with the pipe. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Q: Is this a filter pipe.

Yes and no. It ships with triangular balsa wood filters that you will change after every one to ~4 bowls, depending on your tobacco and smoking habits. And you can buy replacement filters. However, like most filtered.pipes, you can choose not to use one and simply smoke the pipe unfiltered.
