All you need for home use
Works very well. I'm glad I chose this one. It has roughly doubled the speed of my cards compared with my computer's internal reader so for £10 this was a no brainer. Read speeds are about 150% (2.5x) quicker, Write speeds are about 50-60% quicker from testing the various SD and MicroSD cards that I have via USB 3.0. The faster the card, the more noticeable the difference. The really slow cards do not Write any faster than the internal reader, but the Reading is always significantly faster. It's made of plastic and very lightweight so time will tell how long it lasts but I'm quite careful with my stuff and have secured it with some sticky pads so it shouldn't get damaged. It's very compact and looks smart. The blue LED stays on all the time and flashes when the cards are in use. You can use multiple cards at the same time apart from SD and MicroSD where you can only use one (or other) at a time. Includes free file recovery software download as well - nice bonus! Not much more to say other than it does the job very well. If you're a professional you may want something even faster and more heavy duty but I think for the average home user this is all you need. I'll look out for the Transcend brand in future.

Excellent Card Reader. Very Easy to use.
Excellent product. Transcend All-in-1 Multi-Card Reader Device (SDHC/SDXC/MSXC USB 3.0) Black. Bought as my PENTAX OPTIO 33L would no longer work due to incompatibility with WINDOWS 10 (& no suitable update available from Pentax), but works with whatever type of info you have on your memory card (music, documents, video etc). The reader takes many sizes/ types of memory cards and you can download a user leaflet from the Transcend website. The card reader is very simple to use. Just plug it into your laptop via USB3 or USB2 & put your memory card into it, in my case a Compact Flash 133x 2GB. Blue light on the Reader comes on when it's connected.Go into your preferred viewing / editing application e.g Photoscape. You may find that your laptop automatically starts up an application depending on your laptop settings or brings up a list of applications you have on your laptop (e.g windows own preferred apps). Personally, I close that message box then open my preferred option e.g Photoscape. In the application, e.g Photoscape, I open the appropriate Drive which corresponds to the USB connection you've used (e.g mine is F:). You can then copy or transfer your photos (or files of any type) across to your laptop, or just leave them on your memory card and work on them there. In fact I wish I had bought this card reader years ago as it is a much easier way of getting at my photos.

Small and fast.
A very worthwhile upgrade from my USB 2.0 card reader. Using a Transcend 85MB/s SD card I can pull data off the card at about 80-90MB/s using the Windows driver here: [...]--- Sadly Amazon have removed the link to the driver. It is available from the Hama website. ---The reader is very small and seems well made. CF cards locate positively and SD cards do not require too much insertion force (unlike some readers I've used). My only criticism is that the connecting lead is far too short to be of use to anyone using a desktop PC. Fortunately Amazon sell this extension lead: Max Value 2m USB 3 Extension Cable - Black which is cheap and works fine.

Nice Piece of Kit
I bought this card reader as my other card reader, built in to my PC, simply would not read many of the cards I wanted to. In particular, my 8GB SD card in my video camera, and my wife's 32GB micro SD card. Admittedly my PC is over 18 months old, and since then the number of cards and variations has multiplied no end. When I opened the packaging, I was surprised how small the card reader was. Literally not much bigger than a matchbox. There is a USB3 cable enclosed, but the actual length is very short indeed. However, as I have a USB3 port on the front of my PC, this is not an issue.Once out of the packaging, the reader is plug and play. I simply connected the device to my PC through the USB cable, and I was away. There were no difficulties reading the cards. Overall, this is a nice pice of kit, looks great, and the price is spot on. Highly recommended.

Compact, well made, fast.
I picked this up because I wanted something a bit quicker than the built in reader on my laptop for downloading camera cards. It is impressively compact for a multi format reader, and feels well made. The supplied USB 3 cable is short, ideal for connecting to a laptop, if you're going to use it with a desktop you may need a longer cable depending on the position of your ports. The claimed speeds are of course under ideal conditions, but I am satisfied with the speeds I'm seeing. Using a Sandisk Extreme Pro SD card (rated at 95MB/s read speed) I'm seeing sustained transfer rates of around 30MB/s when transfering photos taken with my DSLR (I shoot RAW+ with my 16MPix camera, so each frame is ~ 1x30MB RAW and 1x10MB JPEG). That's about 3x what I was getting from the built in reader and is around what I was expecting with this mix of file sizes. All around, excellent for the money.

Good, but not without problems
I needed a USB 3.0 card reader for quicker transfers rather than using cameras with in-built USB 1 or 2 and this is so much quicker than either. The only downsides are an odd driver issue that it stops being recognised after the PC has been to sleep and needs to be unplugged and reconnected for it to start working again and also that the supplied USB cable is laughably short. We're talking about 30cm or so. That'll be fine if you're using it with a laptop but if you're using it with a desktop that's on the floor or something, be sure to budget the extra cost of a USB 3.0 extension cable. Without the odd disconnection issue and the short cable, I'd give it 4 but as it stands, it could be better.

Works Flawlessly
Can't complain at all. This little device reads and writes at the SD card's maximum (80mb/s for mine). It writes a 60gb image in about 15min or so vs over an hour when I was getting 7mb/s with my last card reader. I keep it plugged in to my USB 3.0 and use it as needed. You do not have to unplug anything to get this to work again like others say. Always eject drive for safe removal and you're golden from there. Highly recommended!!Money well spent!
